View Full Version : KS V6 Stuttering + Susp Knock
Got a couple of little annoying probs with my car, hoping someone could help.
Firstly the is some sort of engine miss / stutter, only does it when warm, like a real miss, the more load its under the worse it gets. In neutral does it when you plant it from idle, its mostly around 1500rpm. I originally suspected it was spark plug leads, changed them and no difference. Any other ideas? Next step is to try some injector cleaner and clean the throttle body.
Secondly there is a clunky / knocking type noise coming from left front suspension over bumps etc. Anyone had this?
Thanks!

Done the rigth thing with plugs and leads there, good.
Next, yee, maybe a good idea to use injector cleaner, but if they are dirty it would affect thru the whole rev range.
The choke doesn't stay on does it? How is fuel consumption? Dizzy cap, rotator? Again, those would affect all RPM, not just 1500.
Hmmm.....
The noise could be from worn out joints or shocks. Difficult to say.
CV joints rattle mainly when accelerating, so maybe not them.

Hmm the engine problem could be multiply things and is a bit hard to diag without looking at the engine. The injector cleaner is a good start as is checking plugs and fuel and air filters.
Take the front wheels off and support the car on axle stands. Have a look around at the sway bar to see if there is anything broken there. I had a washer break there it was simply a 5 minute job to fix.
If your not sure take a look at both sides and compare. The damaged part will stick out. ;)

engine problem sounds like the oxy sensor.
..GONE..

Not very well versed in this area but we had this problem with the TP and if its missing and stuff it could be many things.. eg. Distributor, Your plugs and points, injectors.. Just check them all out!

Mate I am in Melbourne and am happy to have a look at it for you.
I know every bolt and nut on these cars and I am sure we can get it running sweet in no time.
PM me if you need a hand.
Thanks guys,
Played around with it most of Saturday at a friends workshop.... Plugs and Leads have been changed, throttle body has been cleaned, injector cleaner in the tank and the car still has the miss. Only does it when warm and under load.......
Will keep looking..............

Kyle !
i had the same thing on my car!
but it started quite recently, and then i decided i go back to Shell, instead of going to united, and that same day i changed oil to Mobil
and guess what all that engine shudder/mis firing stopped!
sometimes it might be simple stuff like that!!!
that's why im very picky on my fuel!!!
Thanks for that!
Ive been using regular unleaded from Shell. Might try some Optimax or Synergy from a different servo........
I was hoping I wouldn't need to use premium as I used to have to put 140 litres of Optimax a week in my old car and the $$$ were killing me!! I'm going through a tank a week in the Verada and loving it!

i had the same problem with my verada , it was the dizzy , mine was breaking down under load , new cap and some thing else in the dizzy, had to take it to mitsubishi . also the springs on these cars are spose to be wraped to stop banging , maybe it came of , or check the top of the shock , make sure allthe bolts are tight ;)
dunno much about the veradas, however the

sounds quite like a damaged shock. This would mayhaps explain why it knocks when you go over a bump. You could try pushing down on the front left corner of your car (above the wheel arch or near front left headlight) and see if the car is fluid in it's 'bounce' (for want of a better word) A damaged shock would give you a jerky movement, somewhere about mid 'bounce'.

as killer says, it could be a cv thing, however you would notice this on full steering lock as well.

There are several places a knock can come from in the front,
The strut top, the ball joint that connects the sway bar to the lower control arm, the main ball joint it self, a lower control arm bush and the damper.
CV will "clack" on full lock if inner and will "drone" and vibrat at about 60 onwards if an outer.
As for the miss, get a full injector clean, throttle in a bottle will not remove a carbon deposit.
Check the Distributor cap and rotor, also the Dist bushes.
As I said, I am happy to ahve a gander at it, if you are at the next meet on the 21st I can have a look then
