Hi all, I am thinking of fitting a reversing buzzer into my TL. Now this is NOT to turn my TL into a truck!!! :D

But rather, for the safety issue (Eg. Kids or other adults walking around or behind the car will be alerted as you reverse.) Many 4WD clubs are strongly recommending all their members fit these to their vehicles for this very reason.

By the way, I'm not referring to reverse parking sensors ; I've seen these bulbs that have a little buzzer/alarm attached to it, that simply replaces your existing reverse bulb. The only problem is that I'm not sure if there is enough space within the TL light cluster to accommodate the light & buzzer, and I don't want to buy something only to find out it doesn't fit.

If anybody here has had success with fitting this to their Magna, I would greatly appreciate if you could tell me which brand & part no. you used.

a lot of kids already been hit but yet they have'nt made this thing standard to any cars. so i think it would be defectable.

I highly doubt it would / could be defectable. It gives the same functionality, still provides a reversing light (plus you have two anyway on a magna, many only have one), and enhances it by adding an audible warning. If you got defected for having one, I could see it being the basis for court action, one of those ones that get funded by community orgnaisations and the like.

Anyhoo... not knowing the reverse light clearance on a 3rd gen I can't say with authority, but I believe the buzzerlights are designed to be about the same size as a standard reverse light, and there's quite a bit of spare room in the reverse of my 2nd gen wagon, so I'm guessing it shouldn't be an issue at all.

Personally I wouldn't have one, at least not unless I could turn it off, 'cause I have to do a reverse three-point turn to get onto my driveway, and it'd annoy the **** out of all the neighbours when you're doing it a few times a day. But I'm not in an area where little kids abound.

Hi guys thanks for your input -- Just to clear things up -- I will still have two reverse lights. The buzzer is incorporated into the bulb.

Will go scout round Supercheap Auto & Autobarn once I get out of work.

The short answer is that it can't be done - Nobody seems to make one that replaces the small reverse bulb that TL's use.

(Apparently Magnas up to TH used the more common bayonet style bulb, which you can get)

No such word as "can't" :D
Smash a spare bulb, pull apart one of the buzzer ones, and solder it together!

Could you incorp the buzzer into a trailer plug ? Then you dont have to modify anything on the car :)
