Hey all, I picked up a KE last week and want to put some of my audio gear in.

First up, the stock unit is a double din beast but the replacement (Alpine 9833) is only single - what's the hot tip in filling the gap ? Is there a single din pocket I can source from another car that will look factory ?

Secondly, the KE is supposed to be a "6 speaker stereo" - i'm assuming this means the stock HU only outputs 4-channels, and the front speakers are splits of some kind - is this the case ? Are the tweeters mounted up on the dash under that ~3" circular carpeted bit ?

What's the easiest (and most factory) way to mount tweeters ? Is there some kind of mount I can get for the A-pillars ? That spot would be perfect.

Also, my aerial is busted. Are there any aftermarket options here, or is Mitsu the only real way to go ? What are they worth ? Or maybe I can get one from a wreckers - are they the same aerial as an electric magna one ?

My install is going to be as stealthy as possible, So i'd like to use as many factory parts as I can. Thanks :)

yeah you can buy a pocket from any car audio place to fill in the DIN gap.

Yeah im guessing you do have front splits dunno where the tweeters are though as i dont have a verada.

aerpro make replacement antennas for cars, strathfield, jbhifi, autobarn, repco, supercheap...etc all deal with aerpro. you should be able to source one out from there

got to the wreckers and buy a single din slot thing
hmmm there might be tweeters in those circlur bits or maybe to rears are two ways so they've stated them as two speakers
as for the tweeter mounting go and get some verada tweeter pods from the TL/W's
should clip in where the side mirrors are, well after you remove the black traingler thing
and for the antennar go to mitsubishi and grab a TL antennar, these ones only stay up when the radio is on

Not that familiar with the KE, but midranges in the later radas are on the dash on the round carpeted plugs. Tweets in the deltas (where the mirrors would be)

You can get delta mounts from mitsubishi for around $35 a pair. this is ur best bet for factory looking option. You want any from a verada or VRX

Sorry I have never seen mids in the dash.

Jez is right, carpeted section is the tweeters and the mids are in the door.
TJ or KJ and later had tweeters in the sail on the door but mid is in the same place.

Generic aerial is easy to fit and should cost about $50 compared to mitsu one for $750

If you around Newcastle I am happy to help you do your aerial.

Not meaning to Hijack your thread, but just one the topic of the tweeter replacement triangle thingies (I'm technically challenged I know) did people just leave the tweeter sort of loose inside them or did anyone figure out how to fix the tweeters into them?

actually the carpeted section in a KJ is a midrange speaker... i know, i own a KJ ;) tweeter in the delta, woofer in the door

*Also, to the OP, does it have climate control? if it does, then u want the pocket out of a magna/verada with climate control, if not the go a standard exec pocket... there are differences, and u must have the right one. if worst comes to worst, theyre $57 from Mitsu, but make sure the spare parts guy knows wat model, and that it will fit.

also how busted is ur aerial? do u just need a new mast? u can just buy the mast for <$100 from Mitsu
