iv noticed when i drive into a big puddle of water, like after a storm, i cant physically turn the wheel completely i can turn it partially but it wont let me completely turn. it jerks kind of like the dry steer feeling. i have to completely stop for a bit before it stops, could it water related or dirt from puddle related???

are your treads all facing the right direction?

Without seeing this, my initial thought was that the power steering belt slips a bit when wet and only assists partially. But if it slips, it would squeal a bit.

it will be a slipping belt my friend. The water would be acting like a film between the belt and the pulley. Kind of like aquaplaning when the road is wet and you corner too fast.

as killer mentioned, if the belt wasn't gripping the pulley properly, there'd be a squeel.

truely dont know.

Do it with any car. You experience the same thing. Like aquaplaning.

Its the loss of traction between the road and the wheel. If a wheel is suspended on nothing but water, it isn't going to turn real well is it? The lack of friction stops it from applying the appropriate force to the ground, to enable it to turn.

Note: This isn't the same as aquaplaning. This only when one or two wheels are suspended on water. The water can't be moved away fast enough, causing the tough steering sensation.

Mmhh, if this is what we consider as partial aqua planing, then it's tyre, speed and driving style issue. But u said first that u can't turn the wheel fully?

Just for hits and giggles, check the power steering fluid in your car. You may find it to be a little low. If it was the belt, you would still be able to turn it fully, it would just be really hard. As for loss of traction, that would make turning easier as there is no resistance to the action (if you've ever aquaplaned, you'll know this for sure). Also, while you're under the hood, take a look at the steering column and what you can easily see of the drive-train, and just look for anything that appears really out of place.
