Got a full set imported from NZ (Cheers Josh 93' TR :D)
Now, the whole thing is chrome, like what its been cast out of is actually like a chrome plastic, BUT the handles themselves are silver:rant:
So when they scratch, they scratch off to chrome!

Ill get some pics up tomorrow, how do i get rod of the crap on the top without ruining the rest of the handle?

these will look so *** hot with the leather and KS door pods:cool:

oo yay! those'll look awesome man! been looking for a set myself for when i leather mine up. let us know how it goes dude.

As you can see when the silves scratched off its gone to chrome, and the actuall unit itself is a bloody awesome CHROME!
So um any ideas on how to remove this paint?

Soak them in Thinners?
I got some thinners here, might try some on the underside of the pull part.
Any other ideas?

Paint stripper.

thinners and strippers might work as the plastic is kinda coated in chrome, much like the grilles on the elites. i put petrol on my grille to clean some stuff off it, worked a dream, it's never been cleaner.

Thinners and paint stripper will work great as they are plastic and there will only be a soft blob left afterwards

Use MR Muscle if you want to remove pain, not sure if they are chrome underneath, if they are the Mr Muscle will nto touch it, just try on the back first

They are from a 2nd Gen shaped Diamante. 3rd Gen handles are different shape & are 2 piece units.

we use to use a tiny bit of thinners on a rag and then wipe the paint of hilux grilles as they are chrome underneath and then polished em up with some bowdens polish, worked a treat ( the thinners goes on the rag not the handle)

I took Mr.Macomofo's advice and got the paint stripper, it said its not suitable for plastic or chrome so i tried it on the inside of the door handle first.
WORKED A TREAT
cause its not chrome dipped and the whole thing is actually chrome the paint just rubbed off easily...this paint stripper is awesome...I drank some prior it really has a kick...

well thats interesting... coz im pretty sure the statey's door handles are metal, coated with some type of metallic paint, and on the steering wheel the paint is slowly bubbling up minutely :confused:

I wont be fitting them for a while, Still need to get some new door trims as i cant use the ones i have now (long story, if anyone wants all 4 of my door trims with fluff and speaker pods let me know make an offer) so im hunting down KS ones with elec windows, unfortunatly, i have like $3 left, whist saving for other things, so yeah, it'll take a while.
