Hi,

To all those people out there with tight budgets, you will probably know where im coming from. I wanna do my car up for about 2 grand. Thats all I got. I wanna prove to my mates that its possible. My list of doing is:

*17 inch wheels
*lower car 1 1/4 inch. Just the springs.
*Sports Exhaust
*Tinted windows
*New deck
*Colour code the grey plastic under the doors

Thats it!

Do you think its possible?

yeah like Booya said, second hand rims and a decent second hand deck.

lowering around $300
exhaust about $150
tints around $200
color coding around $100
total for these mods ------
$750 roughly

leaves you $1250

$1000 second hand wheels & tyres
$250 pioneer Kenwood clarion head decks.

Good Luck.

reading this makes me realise i was pretty lucky with my TE.

17 inch wheels and tyres - $960 2nd hand
exhaust (straight thru muffler + nice tip) - $175

tints - came with car
colour coding - came with car
head unit (double DIN kenwood CD/MD) - came with car
soundstream sub and amp - given to me by my brother cos it cant fit in his ute now

now all i need is lowering

*17 inch wheels
You'll have to go 2nd hand and that could cost anything

*lower car 1 1/4 inch. Just the springs.
Not exactly sure...but about $3-400

*Sports Exhaust
$200

*Tinted windows
up to $200

*New deck
You can pick up entry level sony xplod ones for about 150, or entry level pioneer ones for about $200

*Colour code the grey plastic under the doors
colour coding was going to cost me 400 for the entire car..so I'd say about $100 for those parts

That is a VERY VERY tight budget...but it could be done.

The only problem I forsee is that by going 2nd hand with rims, you're severly limiting what styles you can choose from...quite possibly there might not be anything you like. But that would be good in a way as you can save up more for when you do see some you like! :D

leave the rims till last so if you have more than you thought you can have a look around for some decent rims. but i think dumping it on its ass is the best thing to do with something like vrx rims, it should look awsome.

Hi,

Got a few questions...Where the hell can ya find second hand wheels? I looked around trading post and went to tyre places and they all tell me that the good ones go in 2 seconds... Fair enough.

Secondly, I like these wheels here. Thanks for the use of ur pic whoevers car this is. I know I seem to see these wheels often, but I like them and they dotn seem to be that expensive which is whta im after!!!!!!

Lastly, id LOVE to drop it like 2 1/2inches but Id like to keep the car insurable after all the shit ive gone through, so 1 1/4 inches is the limit! and F&*k that shits me.............

*17 inch wheels

I have seen packages in moss st slacks creek brisbane for $1000. with tyres.

*lower car 1 1/4 inch. Just the springs.

Buy the springs and fit them yourself $200

*Sports Exhaust

Same again, buy a performance exhaust from like autobarn, get a mate to weld it up for ya if you cant. $120

*Tinted windows

$100 from premier tint.

*New deck

Sony explod deck for $169 from most places.

*Colour code the grey plastic under the doors

Do it yourself with cans, looks the same anyway due to the plastic being coarse, or get a panel beater to do it, $100 bucks tops.

That will cost ya $1689, that leaves some left over for a k&n panel filter or a personalised number plate.

Cheers.

If you walk into an exhaust place, they can order in for you just a rear muffler which bolts up to your original exhaust setup. three bolts on the exhaust joint and a set of rubber mounts to hold it up.
An easy do it yoursef job.

Any honest Exhaust place should only charge $170 max. for the rear muffler and fitting.

Unfortunately i am not from Sydney so i dont know where to do it there, but i am sure guys from AM can point you in the right direction.

A set of Pedders front and rear springs will set you back around the $300 mark fitted. Even try Pedders direct or any Mag Wheel place.
