Should be ok as long as you take it easy. Have you got a trans cooler fitted?

I would say you should be OKAY depending on how far, any massive hills etc. As long as you took it easy i would think you should be okay.

one of my dads friend used to tow his 1988 fibreglass 22foot boat with a mitsubishi L200 vvan up masive hills. he struggled, but it pulled fine. why don't you have a look at the towable mass of the maggie and see if factory fitted it can tow that much. 3ltr is plenty to tow with. when you think nissan x-trails are only 4cyl

*edit* my dad's boat is 18" and it weighs just under 1300kg on land. just imagine a full fibreglass '88 boat with trailer and motor. easily over 1500kg

Take off nice and steady and you will be fine.
You can do chasis damage if you boot it cos of all the extra weight.

I tow with a 3ltr TF fine.

you can tow anything trust me ;)

but i dont think legally you will be allowed to tow it

the mass of the vehicle being towed and the weight of the tandem trailor (a lot!!)

will most likley exceed the max towing weigt which in a magna i think is 1500kg

(most tandems 700-1000kg)

was a little illegal, but if a stock little ford telstar (front wheel drive for those who don't know) can tow an 80's model jaguar on a trailer from melbourne to new south wales i am sure the magna could handle a torana without a worry.

i thought that the weight of the vehicle being towed wasn't allowed to exceed the weight of the vehicle towing it, meaning the weight of the trailer isn't a factor.

i have a strong feeling i may be wrong but that is what i thought it was.

LC torana's only weigh around 1100kg.. really depends if the trailor is a monster or not.... isnt the rule something to do with the total weight being towed should not be more than the total weight of the vehicle towing it? in that case if the trailor is around 400kgs you'll be fine

Well I have a TF sports manual and I towed an EF falcon s/wagon through some windy hilly roads on a tandem trailer.

It did do it, but I wouldn't recommend doing it in stop start traffic. Had to ride the clutch pretty hard to get rolling. Once rolling it was fine, kept the engine sitting around peak torque(3500-4000RPM). It was actually worse pulling it on open flat roads than in the windy hilly rds. Probably due to a head wind.
