Hi all,

I've read up on most of the LPG stuff on here and am more confused than ever!!!!

I want to convert my '04 TL to gas. Impco seem to be the preferred choice.

Has anyone got experience with an Impco install, or even better some pictures???

Do they make a vapour injection system for this model, or air valve / venturi systems only?

And anyone know of an Impco installer in WA?

And finally, now that the gov will give us $3K to install gas, why have the install prices leapt up to $4K+..... (no need to answer that one - it's pretty obvious:badgrin: )

Thanks

Woody

I was quoted $3200 by Auto Edge for a LPG conversion with vapour injection system for Magna TJ 03. Not sure about the system though, gotta ask them. I have heard that auto edge is good at LPG installation and yes they are very quick.

Does your TL come with LPG compatible engine? Magna engine is known for burning oil after a reasonable milage due to poor standard valve seals. I was told by Mitsi that LPG burns at higher temp, so may decrease the engine life if it is not a LPG compatible engine.

Auto Edge haven't got back to me with a price.

They had pricing available for 03 and earlier models though.

Only quote so far was from Go Gas in Newcastle St. They quoted me $3,750 for a Tartarini system which they said had RTA emission approval however NOT according to the LP autogas site.

I need to clarify this with them, either way it's not a sequential injection system.

Is it LPG compatible? Who knows??? Even Mitsubishi don't seem to be able to answer this one!

Other info suggests the non-LPG engine doesn't have problems with the conversion.

If anyone knows different, please let me know!

Thanks again.

Have you heard anything from Auto Edge, mate? Any other quotation?

Nothing from Auto Edge,

I might try them again next week, or I might just go to Gas Power (not Go Gas as I originally said - whoops) or ring around a few more places next week.

I tried Steens in Balcatta who said they didn't have a kit for the model.

Loosing interest rapidly......

Also discovered that to get the $1000 WA grant you have to put the car over the pits. Should pass no problem but a lot of hassle to go through - probably waste a day.

At $3750 less the $3K in grants, it will still take over a year to pay for itself as it only covers 10,000 km per year or so.

The engine should have LPG stamped near the top radiator hose housing(I think) if the engine is LPG compatible from the Factory.

Make me wonder should I do it for my 4 cyl in WA also, I dont think I have problems with the pits but is whether the gas conversion is reliable.

I don't think anybody has a emission certified kit available for the 04 and up TL's...

I have a parnell (converter) system in my 03 TL but any models after 1 Jan 04 need the certified kits fitted for the rebate.
