as im about to pull out the gearbox in my car to replace the clutch and do the rear main, what replacement oil should i use in the gearbox? i remember someone somewhere once said there is a specific oil to use with the Ralliart LSD's, or any LSD for that matter.

any direction would be appreciated

I used some Motul gear oil. Can't think of what its called but was about $45/L.

I think Disciple might have put the same **** in his Ralliart and was happy with it.... or I could be wrong.

Edit - think it might be called "Motul FF 75w90"

Does the box still shift fine, or is it a bit crunchy?

I've heard that Redline is a good oil, as is Penrite's gear oil.

Mine? Shifts are as smooth as silk. Admittedly I only ran it for about 4,000kms.

Make sure whatever oil you use that it is a GL4 oil NOT a GL5.

GL5 oils are known to attack/react with certain metals within manual magna gearboxes hence why MMAL specify a GL4 oil. (Even my mazda 3MPS must use a GL4 oil due to material used inside the gearbox, and it also comes from factory with a Quaife LSD fitted)

Having said that i just use castrol VMX-M oil in my ralliart LSD equipped gearbox (VMX-M is very similar to VMX80, only real difference is that its MMAL approved for factory fill) and ive never had any shift/diff problems in over 7years. Its pretty cheap too so ya can afford to change it every couple of years. Costs me $25 for 4litres (our manual gearboxes require 2.8Litres)
