i dont know where i should publish this...
Anyway my loan got approved yay!! so now i'm looking for a new car... i've nailed it down to, 3 options varada? vrx? 380? i think the rally art would be pushing the budget, so i need some help deciding between the 3?? i'm still fairly new to magna's so i'm not to sure on common problems. if i decided to go the 380 it would be a stock base model but newer eg. 2005/6 and i'm not sure if they are a good reliable car, being the first of the series. If i went a vrx it would be based on 2 things the kit, and all wheel drive?? dose anything else make a vrx stand out from the rest?? or my last choice and slightly more inclined to this would be the verada, i like the luxurys the verada offers, most importantly sunroof, leather and from the years of 2000 - 2002 is there much difference between series 1 or 2? and i noticed some have leather and others do not anyone know the go with that??
anyway any help would be great.
thanks magna_advance - (oh and by the way i'm i'm stepping out of a magna advance 1998) if that helps in any way lol

sunroof is a pain in the bum. trust me...
and the different models dictate trim levels. Ei is the lower model verada with cloth trim and Xi is supposedly with leather and all that jazz...as far as I know...
gud luck...i'm from the 2nd gen section :) lol

why is that?? leaking problems??
I had to make the same decision about 6 weeks ago. I stumbled on a Verada GTVi TL 2003. It has a sunroof, and no it does not leak. Put it this way, I'll never buy a car without a sun roof. Once you are use to it you cant do without it, you can have the sun shining through in the mornings, and at night you can see the stars. Anyway, I went for the Verada GTVi, because it has the luxury that I want, I already have two other Veradas, but the GTVi, also has the higher spec motor, bigger wheels, sports exhaust, spolier. Never looked back on my decision, when I drive around, the world is now my oyster. Happy Hunting ! If you can find one in AWD then all the better.

sunroofs are awesome :D
i have had both genuine and aftermarket and no probs
ppl keep thinking of the past and have visions of pannel vans with sunroofs rusty roofs and more bog than a toilet bowl
if you can afford a 380 then you could get a ralliart, but honestly i'd go the 380... newer and better and far nicer inside

hey yea i was looking at an 2003 all wheel drive verada the only thing that puts me off are those headlights lol

i know... see the thing is this is my first more expansive car so i want to be cautious and not get sold by a slick salesman you know what i mean??? but like i said i'm slightly towards the verada cause i do like the luxury do you know if 2000-02 came out all wheel drive or if the vrx came out in leather with the sunroof?

I once hated them also, took me three years to like them, but you no what...over time they grow on you. Like I always tell everyone, my car started off ugly, and gets better looking each day, unlike my other half...(looks at wife)....SLAP......no dear...sorry...

What was the difference between the 3rd gen Series 1 & 2 ?
for veradas 4 speed tippy to 5 speed tippy and dual power seats in the Xi.

Ok, Ill attempt to tackle the mess of non-formatting/punctuation :)
If i went a vrx it would be based on 2 things the kit, and all wheel drive??
Kit = Yes, AWD = No. All VRX models 2000-2002 are FWD. Series 2 TJ VRX's also got 17" rims.
dose anything else make a vrx stand out from the rest??
- having nicer seats than the base models
- coloured dials on the dash
- bodykit
- 163kW VRX vs 150/155kW Exec (basically an exhaust and that all the difference really)
or my last choice and slightly more inclined to this would be the verada, i like the luxurys the verada offers, most importantly sunroof, leather and from the years of 2000 - 2002 is there much difference between series 1 or 2?
Veradas are nice, remember that they are ALL autos, the sunroof/leather etc you will only find on GTVi/GTV/Xi models, no Ei's will have these. Bugger all difference between S1 & S2 Veradas, except S1 = 150kW, S2 = 155kW and all GTV/GTVi = 163kW.
I also believe the GTV/GTVi has 5 speed auto, whereas Xi/Ei has 4spd Auto. I think the S2 Xi/Ei gets 5spd auto, but not 100% sure.
Electrically wise, pretty much the same features S1&S2. Think the seats are both electric in S2 thats all.
i've nailed it down to, 3 options varada? vrx? 380? i think the rally art would be pushing the budget
If you can afford a 380/Xi Verada then you should also be able to afford a Ralliart.
Verada - Very nice car, classy looking, heaps of goodies and lovely car to cruise in.
VRX - Basically a bog stock Magna with an exhaust and a kit, dont bother unless you want a manual as an auto will cost roughly the same as a Verada and be about as fast but Verada will be classier.
380 - Been out for ~2 years now and still yet to hear and sob stories about them, look ghey when stock, but tinted and lowered on rims, look very very good. Alot of lowdown torque aswell. May be lacking features as would only be able to buy pov pack entry level model.
Ralliart - Quick, but basically a Fast VRX with a different kit and some nice brakes and suspension. Dont bother with this one.
Hope it helps.

the 380 is a better car then any third gen magna, obviously! i mean its the model that replaced the third gen magna so it would want to be better wouldnt it! But look, if you drive a 380, then step into any third gen, and you will soon see that the 380 is the superior car. Sadly i did this and wish my TL would turn into a 380... i pray lots but god wont listen

well maybe i was too strong in my view, but the third gen magna is an 11 year old design now, the 380 is a 2 year old design, so really the 380 should be a better car, and personally i felt like it was a generational leap forward over my TL magna
All I can say is drive an awd if you think you might want one. The traction on any road, any weather is insane. I probably would have bought an awd verada if there was one on the go when I got my vrx, but then I fell for the colour also. headlights? they are outstanding with a globe upgrade, so it depends whether you stand round looking at it or if you drive it at night!
but if you're pretty opened minded, sniff around for a really good deal, they're all great cars, and when you see something that is a real bargain price, it will suddenly look very attractive....

...Well said...thats what generally happens...you fall in love lol
BTW...What is the globe upgrade you went for. Both head lights and driving lights? I'm interested to know what globes you used for improvement?

380 is a safer and all round better car, not to mention it will still carry the factory 5/10 warrantee , 380's are also holding their value better than holden and commo of the same year so lots of positives there ..
personaly im upgrading my TH sports to a 380 for pure comfort factor .
if you have a soft spot for magnas then im sure u could find a low K magna very cheap now :)

My Ralliart might be for sale soon. How much did you get approved for with your loan? If I end up selling it you're welcome to come and take it for a test drive. :D

One of my problem with 380 is that it does not have a frameless window. A frameless window is like a braless ****, so sexy. Also Magna has got almost everything of 380 except the Engine, a different body and may be suspension, so why pay more???

Personally id either go a TL/TW Verada GTVi or earlier if they are to $$$ or a 380 SX. Verada's are classy ass cars with heaps of creature comforts and goodies. The SX 380 is an absolute bang for buck car. If you look in the 380 thread there is a big discussion about it. From memory its pretty much the same car as the 380 VRX without the different rear lights and a few other things. The 380 Platinum is a nice car aslo.

Don't agree with that. I never had a sunroof till my current car. I just love it. No problems. Let the sun in on a cool day and the moonlight in on a nice night. Just great!

KL Xi for $18K with only 54K and sunroof. Some aftermarket mags, dark tint and you're set. Good colour too.

so its got a different engine, a different body, and yes definetly different suspension, also different brakes, built off a completely different platform, completely different interior... umm what does the magna have that the 380 has again? its like saying why pay extra for a third gen magna when you could have a second gen...

if u woyldnt buy a 380 because it has window frames well i ges thats ur choice but umm not top on the prioritys.
it comes down to personal oppinion but the 380 is alot more car than the magna, i own a magna and to be the 380 makes us ook very old and dated,
really comes down to what best suites your needs and personal prefference

cause it also has an extra star in the safety ratings plus an extra year or two warranty.

Magna_advance98, mate I would try and get a drive of the Verada and the 380.
I went from a KE 97 to the 380 and they are very different cars but in someways feel the same. The way the 380 feels with steering wheel placement and pedals is very Magna like which is great, you feel like you're in the same family lol .
However, even the 380GT will never feel as luxurious or cossetting as an Xi Verada. The 380 are harder riding even the base model but of course much better around corners. The interiors are very different with most ppl not very impressed with the newer model. Boot space is much better in the Verada.
It's really up to you what you want in the car and how you are going to use it.
If you want luxury the Verada has it in spades.
get a 2005 AWD, will be cheaper purchase than 380 and vastly superior handling.
