View Full Version : Will 215/60/R16 work?

I've got 205/65/R15s (stock size) now, and I'm aware of the very slight speed reading difference I would get changing to 215/60/R16 (2.6% difference), but it would appear that I'm actually getting a eading slightly under what I am actually doing at the moment anyway, so it might make the reading more accurate!

Anyhoo... the question is, is there any reason NOT to go for these? eg., fuel economy will suffer due to more torque being required (or something like that), diameter too large to clear guards (currently stock height, possibly lowering maybe 2"), etc., etc?

I need new tyres, so have been looking at upgrading to 16" or greater, depending on what rims and tyres I can find in a low enough price range.

I've seen quite a few TR-TS Magnas going around with 3rd gen 16" wheels on them.

Judging by the high-ish profile of the tyres, they would be 215/60/16, or, god-forbid, 225/55/16 (which really pushes the limits of the 16 x 6 rims).......but should be OK on a 16 x 7 (Sports/VRX rim)

I had 225/50/16 on a KS V6xi Verada for a while. They were mounted on a 16 x 8 rim and just brushed the guard on full-lock AND on a downhill angle. I wouldn't recommend 16 x 8 rims on a TR-TS after that experience.

I should think that 215/60/16 on a 3rd gen 16x6 alloy wheel will be absolutely fine.

215/60/R16 will be fine, 2% is negligible and is still within legal limits, you're allowed a 15% leeway in tyre diameter I believe, in Queensland at least.
