View Full Version : Looking for a dbl din DVD
Hi gang,
Im looking for a dbl din dvd, now the cheaper I can get it.. the better for me (the mrs wont say no then). I am looking for one that has a red/other color blinking light on it, when u turn off the engine etc like the stock head unit.
Thanks
look to JVC, can be had for the $1000 mark, even less if you bargain :)

Well, unlike the eBay specials, I'd say JVC gear will actually do what it says it can...
But do the JVC ones have the red blinking light thing. What about Eurovox?

Yeah they do have a red blinking light it's not super bright but it is there, heres a link to mine i just installed http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50282. This unit so far is real impressive doing more then i thought it would

If I get it pro installed, because I want to get rear sensors installed, stock driving lights installed and auto window closer installed at the same time, would he/she/them not install the handbrake wire.. i wonder.

yeah im pretty sure they will install it as a leagal thing to protect them selfs, but my mate had one in his car and he would pull the hand brake to the first click and drive around with that. or u could just un install it your self

Just let them install it and then find the wire that links to the handbreak, cut it and ground it thats all it is...
If you wanna get more sneaky.. you could somehow install a hidden switch, which means flick the switch and it only works when the handbrake is on then flick it the other way and it works all the time..
"no officer you could not possibly have seen my tv on (flicking switch to legal mode) look it only comes on when the handbrake is on..."
I have a JVC dvd player in my car and cannot fault it...
I honestly, wouldnt mind something with a TV tuner aswell. But since we r changing to Dig TV.. I recon that point is null.

That is until they impound your car and have an auto electrician examine it lol
Just gnaw on the wire with your own teeth and say a rat chewed it... terrible...

Be careful here. My installer said that my warranty would be void if he hooked it up to a switch rather than the handbreak. Also if you have a crash, even if you werent in the wrong, your insurance may be void if it can be proven you COULD have been watching a dvd.
On another note, if your into your sq, be prepared for a MASSIVE drop in sound quality and clarity.
Cheapest IU can get is $1399 from JB... looks like Ebay here I come.

You can get the Pioneer AVH-6850DVD for that money which is a good reliable unit....
i could beg to differ with the sq drop... any particular reason for this statement? i judge plenty of sq cars that run double din dvd decks and i couldnt pinpoint any loss in points to being the deck's output at all..
in fact some people gain, depending what deck they are going to and from..
sure i would expect degradation in sound quality if i was going from an Alpine 7998R, to an Eonon pos, but going from your say a JVC cd deck, to a jvc dvd deck, i would probably expect a small improvement.
