Hey guys,

I finally have my magna up for sale... Its a TH Advance with 235,000kms. In good nick too.I have this guy wanting to buy it for $3500.. But here are somethings that need attention.

Timing belt
2 new tyres
2 new rear brake rotors and pads
Ran out of rego last week

I feel like if I sell it for $3500 its going for a song! Do you think this is a fair offer or should I walk? Please let me know your opinion as I need to get back to them!

Thanks

Mate considering the high K's and the fact it needs a new timing belt and 2 new tyres and brakes etc plus no rego then i would say $3500 is a good deal!!

What about all the other things? Interior condition? paint? transmission, suspension, any odd knocks and squeaks, oil leaks, things like that?

I sold mine for a bit more, but it needed brake rotor machining, rear pads, and a few little nibbly bits like washer bottle (nothing expensive like a timing belt and two tyres), and waay less km's travelled. I'd say 3500 is resonable.

The car is actually in very good condition, interior is very clean, paint is very good apart from a bit of fade on the roof. No oil leaks at all from either power steering, tranny or engine. Everything works in the car too, a/c and accessories are all good.

It just seems crazy that a 1999 car is selling for so little. You see in the paper people trying to flog a 1996 Excel for more when the Magna is superior!

maybe you could spend some money doing it up about with about 500 bucks or so and try sell it for 5 grand
brakes and rotors if your low on money could get some second hand rotors from a wreckers sand them bak and paint them with 20 bucks worth of caliber paint, timing belt you could get them from the wreckers as well, and im sure its not too much for a new one?
as for brake pads they only cost 70-80 bucks a pair, tyres you can get as low as 90 bucks each for a good pair from bob jane depend wat mags you have already.
ive seen magnas for sale done way over 200 thousand kms and stil selling for the 6 grand mark,if you've got the time and money i would take it into consideration, make yourself abit of money :)

I guess I could spend $500 bucks and get a bit more for it. It makes you cry to go on carsales with people selling their cars for so little. People dont realise how good Magna's are!

Its because who hates magna hates like ****!!! Its the crappy tranny that is driving so many people away from Magna. Magna tranny is like flower petals.

unfortunately the new car market is thriving so much atm that ALL used cars are declining really badly in value.. which is both good and bad.

imo if you spent $700 or so getting the timing belt, brakes and and tyres done.. you could probably sell it for $6000. if you were in WA you could sell it for $8000 :P

Well thats the thing.. Usually im ok with things like this in making a decision, but this has been my baby for the past 5 years and I feel like im getting shafted.. I dont want to make a rash decision. I was thinking of maybe spending like a few hundred and getting alot more. The only thing people say is the k's are too high. Everyone says the same thing.

Btw, why 8k in WA Woob???

Well put in this light... If you were to trade an absolute scrap heap with one month rego, you will get a 3 grand trade in... I own a TH Sports, I have to admit its in very good condition, just yesterday I could of sold it for 12grand!, an if I ever look at selling I have his number for him to have first dibs at it... I would say 5g tops work down if needed.. Yeh the k's are high, but Im guessing with them k's it would mainly be highway driving ??... Do you guys have to get a roadworthy to sell ur cars??

Sorry just read your profile, QLD you need a blue slip to sell your vehicle privately (unless sold 'as is' in ya backyard)... At the very least the tyres would need to be changed..
