Hey everyone,

As the title suggests i'm having issues relating to My TH Magna's accessories belt. Fortunately it seems it is a cheap fix, but i'm just not quite sure how to go about it so i'll explain and any advice would be a real big help, i'd really appreciate it :)

The issue started when i "half" accidentally spun the wheels in a big puddle. Soon afterward the belt started squealing like a little girl, and then soon afterward my Gas system stopped working properly because it wasn't getting the required electrical power that it relies on from the belt spinning properly... so my friend and i got under there and simply found that a bolt had come out.

We decided to be better safe than sorry, bought a brand new acessory belt and went to a bolt shop and got a new one that fit perfectly... and installed it.

No hassles for a week.

Then 2 nights ago, my new belt started squealing again, and fearing that i was going to lose electrical power, turned around for home... and as i was doing so, there was a DING! and this thing fell out onto the road.

Fortunately i found it and i didn't lose the new belt either... it's still in good nick. The bolt is gone.

I've had a lot of confusing advice on what possibly went wrong and how to solve it...

People are generally telling me that either we should have used lock tight on the bolt, or that there is something wrong with a bearing that this thing was mounted on...

Does anybody know what they are looking at here? And if you could give me some steps on how to fix this thing properly, it would be appreciated very much... i'm worried i might make it worse if i start messing without knowing what i'm doing.

Have a good one! :D

that is the idler pully for the airconditioning belt

it should have a stepped bolt and a washer and a special threaded part
this can go to a wrecker to buy that

by the picture its bearing has rusted or ceased

never use locktite on a belt adjustment part

refit
then tighten back up after you have used the longer adjuster belt to get the right tension
on the belt

the stepped bolt is the locking nut to stop the tensioner pully from falling off
so it need to be done up hand tight

Hey again

After a couple of days of missing the wreckers closing times we got in to the only Magna they had and got the replacement bearing & bolt.

After a lot of fiddling and swearing Getting the bolt in, i've been driving the thing around all night with no hassles at all.

Thanks magna buff, your help was instrumental! :)
