i'm thinking of replacing the grille on my VRX to the Verada KJ front grille, i think it looks better than just plain black....i've been hunting around the internet, ebay etc...but havn't found anything, so just wondering if anyone has an idea of a price?? and any other suggestions other than going to a dealer??

Cheers

KH Xi Grilles go for $170-$190 at Mitsu, So Id Imagine a KJ one should be around that sort of cash.

A KJ Ei is $160 (body colourd surround)
A KJ Xi is $214 (chrome surround)

My local dealer can get them for me cheaper, trade price.
I can ask him for you if you want.

Thats if you want a brand new one that is.

I made one which I think looks as good if not better than the KJ grill for only $20. Check the 3rd gen post your ride section for a look see.

looks good man... you should post how you did it.

I want to change my grille, but I want something like the Ralliart one, and $400 from Mitsu is too much for a grille!

cheers,

It's called Chrome Side Moulding, the stuff that some people put around their wheel arches.

That's what you need to ask for at an auto store and it's about $20 for a 5 metre long pack. There's different thicknesses. I used about 10mm from memory.

All you do is cut the pieces to size with scissors, peel the backing off and stick it on the grill (it's very sticky so won't ever come off by accident). The long piece that runs the outer perimeter of the grill requires the bonnet to be popped so that the edges can be stuck down under it when it's closed. You don't even have to remove the grill. Takes 10-15 mins max.

yeh supercheap realized what i was talkin about, but theyv swapped suppliers in wa and the wheel arch moulding stuff they sell now has a big rubber strip running along the side of it,

Anyone kno anywhere else in wa that might have it? Tried motoquipe but theyv only got matt silver and only go to 5mm.

what if you cut the rubber stip off with a stnley knife and used a weather proof sealer to stick it on? I think that might work.

Yeh i thout that might work, but the rubber extends over the edge and onto the top of the chrome stripping. O well bak to the drawing board.:D

And thats a shame about the price i was gettin all excited haha

Hmm, to reawake an old thread, any luck with the tape? I am in WA and unfortunately unlike our Eastern brethen don't have access to good stuff.

Could the grille be removed, spray painted and then fitted in again? Not looking for the same colour as the car but I'm sure that chrome should be an available colour once Bunnings/Supercheap does it's 15 id checks and verify that no I am not using the spray paint to graffitisied something but my car.

you could use that chrome paint but it looks like plain silver paint, just do what i did + a few other members, use that chrome bumper stripping.

ask them for chrome body molding, or molding that goes around wheel arches, failing that they should be near/next to where all the jerry cans are.

Have you check the wreckers here in Perth as when you get one is under
$150 for one, I seen it once in Malaga, no use for me as I am a TE.

does anyone have photos of the two to see differences

is the surround just the thin plastic bit that clips onto the front of the car

Have a look at Mohit's Verada Nick to get an idea how the Ei Grille looks.

And yes, its just a bit of plastic that clips on the outside.
