for all of those who read the pervious thread regarding the changing of globes/lights
i hav succeeded, on the weekend i decided to giv it another go since finding out that -VRX- had changed his economy screen to red, and i succeeded, for all of those curious to doing this u will need to get right into the economy system and the globes are on the back of the circuit board,
there r 4 globes on this board, 2 for the screen and 2 for the buttons, the current button globes hav the stock blue condoms on them and as for the screen globes they are without n e condoms...i hav changed my buttons and the screen to red, the globes are T5.
previously to doin the economy i tried to do the trip computer and cud not seem to get it out because of the center air vents, the wire connecting to it was VERY annoying after an hour of trying to get it out i gave up, and just decided to do the economy and leave it, after i did the economy i was putting the dash all together and in doing it the vents just popped out, which was lucky for me, and i decided since it was out i may aswell take out the trip computer, i did so and found 5 globes.
2 globes are there for the warning lamps of the oil and battery these where T5 blobes without condoms because they are already colour on display. the other 3 globes were T10, these had blue condoms on them, so there u go
if u decide to do this conversion i found the condom colours u can purchase are green, blue and red
i purchased green T5's aswell coz i hav friends at repco and got them for like no money at all, and tried the green before the red and it wasnt MUCH of a change, the red looks good
u will need
at least
4 x T5 condoms (depends also if u wish to change the buttons aswell as the screen) and depending on ur trip computer, if its the clock/speedo or if its the full computer with the fuel comsumption and all it will depend, mine needed
3 x T10 condoms for the full trip computer, i wud ASSUME that the other wud only need the 1 condom,
im not too sure
and for n e 1 out there thinking u can change the globes to LEDs u cant do it for the economy, the globes are wired onto the fitting, therefore u cant take the globe off of the fitting...where as for the trip computer u CAN remove the 3 globes because the globes ARE NOT wired to the fitting ALTHOUGH i wud NOT suggest it, the LEDs are like a beam of light and wud NOT light up the entire screen and wud just be bright in 1 area, also the LEDs i find sometimes hold power and flicker from time to time...stick with the condoms so the screen display is even and not 3 bright dots and the rest of the screen is dim
n e ways good luck for those who try this conversion it looks nice and different and i will try to post up pics of it later
