Was at the mechanics and was looking at my TL...
anyway suddenly something popped in my mind, it was how the hell do i change my head lights on them?? i opened the bonnet up and as usual one side needed the washer bottle to be remove... the other side is located !@#$ inside.... anyone change their bulbs on a TL before?
Yeah I had the headlight out of the passenger side, you can get to the indicator easily through the engine bay, same with the low beam I think. The highbeam I think you have to access by taking off the wheel and splash guard. One of them is ridiculous.

how do i remove the he headlights? is it as simple as just undoing the 2 bolts on the top of the headlights??
i've just found a bill here for $35.50 from the dealer when I got them to swap them while it was in for a service. worth it plus whatever the Phillips Vision globes cost as the lights are now brilliant. ( judging by the labour costs it took them 40 minutes )

Left one is a bit of a pig. Take the wheel off, and splash guards from the wheel well. Jack it up and support it etc... there's a nut underneath there, take that out plus the 3 bolts out of the bracket holding the front bar on. There's another two on top you can see. Take the passenger grille out of the front bar (2 plastic screws and a firm pull) and theres the 4th going horizontally in there. Then you have to take half of the plastic screws in the top of the front bar out and pull it back a little while you wiggle the headlight out. Indicator loom twists 90 degrees and comes out, main light is a rubber boot and clip, and another loom for high beams.

its a bitch need to unscrew the whole unit.
worse in the landcruisers! the entire fron end has to come off to change one globe - then you need to realign every thing after!

When I looked in the workshop manual the other day, it appeared to be easier to remove the bolts holding the headlight body and lifting the headlight body out.
I'd hate to be doing this on the side of a road.

alright did this today, bloody took me 4 hours to figure and fix everything in...
driver's side... unscrew the water bottle and the horn and u would be good...
passenger side... take out battery and fuse box actually for fuse box its just unscrewing and shifting it backwards...
no use trying to unscrew the headlights... doesnt come off unless u have the bumpers off...
hope this helps...

It sucks hey something thats meant to be so damn easy takes hours. My eye twitches when i think about having to change the passenger globes in my car. The blood, sweat, tears and swearing ( literally ) and then the shame of having to get a leccy to do it for you.
