Hey guys...

Over the last couple of weeks I had been making some plans to do a few changes to my car. I was originally going to make alot of changes to the appearance of my car, spending about $2500 over a period of about 6 months.

This was going to include: Ralliart Rear bar with dual exhaust slots, New tips for my exhausts, Ralliart Flares, Ralliart front bar, lowered and dewinged.

However I recently thought that maybe it would be a better idea to save up and spend that money on a manual conversion instead. It's a really hard decision for me so I was hoping you guys could help me decide by telling me what you think would be more rewarding: aesthetics or performance.

(Wish I had been more patient and bought a manual magna to start with :()

Also, how much would a be able to sell my 4spd tippy box for?

go for looks and relability

rather than for performance maintainence and FINES

hehe yeah i dont think i'd get any fines :P wouldnt say a manual conversion would be that unreliable would it? Or is it a bit dodgy sometimes?

nah its fine, but if you drive a manual like i do, you will have heaps of speeding tickets bald tyres worn out clutches etc...

well worth it though, but i just like to cruise now :P

It really depends what you want out of your car, i personally wouldn't spend much money on "performance" of a magna, because you'll sped thousands and get very little in return, perhaps a zorst and what not...
i spend my money on looks and audio.. start with lowering and rims, work your way from there imo :)

hm this is true... I wouldnt do anything more performance wise if i did the conversion. It would be more to do with having a manual car again. Been a while since i've had a manual car. And my last manual was a little 1.6 L carolla. I can imagine how much fun a manual magna would be... Well I can't actually but people say it is... soooo.... lol

yeah, manual is really a personal thing, if you want to do it, go for it! I personally hate it, im far too lazy to be changing gears all the time :P and if i want to have a "fun" drive, i take my dad's roadster for a spin :)

Thank god you came to your senses...

IMO go for a manual converstion, you will not be dissapointed, and can embark on your rewaring journey of learning the finer points of manual driving.

A Magna with a manual box really is in an entirely different league to the autos.

i would prolly go more towards looks, i think there would be more satisfaction out of that than a bit more power for me anyway. power is nice and if i want it i just drive the old ones v8. Manual conversion would be good but its a bit pricy for just one mod.

but up to u:)

it might be pricey...but bang for your buck would be worth your while. I have had a manual magna and now a 5 spd tippy, and a manual goes harder for sure. I have to settle for now with what i have(working on the missus for a conversion)after all of my mods, what is holding it back from close to 200hpatw is the gearbox:cry:

Have you got any audio gear in your car? You don't have any listed in your profile... By the sounds of it your car looks good already. Get yourself a good double din DVD player, some splits, sub and amps. It's one of the favourite parts of my car.

Just a jvc headunit. Not a huge need for audio... stock speakers go loud enough for me I reckon. Was gonna get some new speakers at some stage though.

Definitely go for the manual box. It will double the pleasure you get from actually driving. Honestly you'll love it, especially with that powerful V6 up front.

I have just added 'Black Magic' Tint to mine, with the paint colour being dark green it looks really schmic!. She just turned 8 in July so I gave her a Shine (4 days later)... She came out looking a Million bucks. Looks is a big plus, will also help value down the track. Although I already have manual, so Im prob being biased with the looks statement

My Mechanic just got back to me... he quoted $4000 for the parts 2nd hand from a wrecker + $950 for labour. The labour sounds about right... but $4000 for the parts is ridiculous! From what I've heard you can pick up all the parts you need for about $1100? is that correct? Does anyone know where in brisbane I can get the parts I need?

Safety.
Modify the suspension (lower it to reasonable limit and get stiffer shocks) and get good, grippy tyres.
Then perhaps sway bars etc.
