I'm new to this club and seeking help with a couple of issues with my TR magna (sept 91) Firstly I have an annoying noisy starter motor issue. This happens when I crank the motor over WHY? & what can I do to rectify it? Secondly the idle air control motor is only working when it wants to, I've priced an original replacement @ $300+. Is there an after market part?

exactly what noise is the starter motor making? might help people who know to diagnose.

I think aftermarket ISC's are somewhere around the $100 mark, I believe my last one was sourced through Repco.

first off is it the 4cly astron II or v6?? is it auto or manual. maybe the solenid (sp) on the starter. maybe the gear on the starter is not meshing with the flywheel properly.
Can't say why untill you take it off and have a look. If you have a friend or someone you know with a 2nd gen magna then maybe swap there's in and see if it make a difference. Should only be 2 14mm bolts and a bit of effort.

as for the idle contorl motor your best bet is to buy new or go to the wreckers and pull one out of the lowest klm magna there.

Just Clarifying. V6's started In 93, So its definatly an Asstron
