hey guys,
first post here. i have a 1990 mitsubishi tp magna 5spd, and also have a turbo
single cam 4g63 that i have built.
i've managed to hook it up to a starion turbo computer loom and fire it up independant
of the car, just to make sure everything was hunky dory.
two questions basically;
1) the bottom end is out of a l200 ute (narrowblock); so will this bolt into the magna if i swap the mounts off the original motor?
2) does anyone have a good wiring diagram for the magna that they can send? i just need to wire in the basics (fuel pump, start, crank signal etc)
any help would be greatly appreciated.
james
(as a sidenote, anyone had a hit and run? i had it happen in my vl leaving a bottle shop last night and the guy just took off! what a crunt)

i have a manual if you want wiring diagrams.
whats a 1200 ute botom end need more info. like who made it (manufactur, and yes i can't spell) , what is it put into (type of car).
unless it's a 4cly mitsubishi Astron engine of some kind i don't see it's working without lots of modding.
if you have the "narrow block" there wouldn't u just answer your own question buy trying it. Cos i haven't herd of anyone trying anything simillarhear. So i guess seeing as you have the part you would be the test mule hehe
Plus they have just brought out lots of new laws about modding so if you plan on getting it on the road id do some research before u waste energy in the wrong area's. hang on your in WA so maybe your not affected.

L200 was the early series of mitsubishi utes/van's. they used a rwd configuration with a narrow block motor (suitable for both fwd/rwd). this is similar to a sigma setup with a narrowblock 2.6 astron, with a gearbox to suit.
the motor itself is a 4g63, which ive used twin headgaskets and a starion turbo head/cam and a teeny tiny mitsi tc05 turbo.

not particularly concerned, the worth of all parts involved is less than $1000. im only doing this for a laugh, the car itself is multicoloured with lots of rust repair work. who would want to get chopped by an old magna (im open for flames here i know)
also was told the TP magna gearbox was one of the strongest 4g6x fwd boxes available.

not sure about the strongest part but it did get revised after tm-tn.
mines never given problems. but i change it's oil and filter every second engine oil change . I do the engine every 5000 klms:D
if you want to pm me an email address i'll scan the wiring diagrams and send em your way.
The manual TP gearbox is basically bulletproof. Sogg was using his in the end after the Galant gearboxes kept dying.
I think the Magnas use a variant of the Astron wideblock, so you may need to alter engine mounts to suit.
It would indeed be a laugh. Good luck

you mean 4g5x, as those transmissions were intended for the astron. it just so happens that most mitsu transmissions can bolt up with other mitsu motors (ie 4g63) :)
EVO or GSR (out of a galant) box imo is stronger than any TP box. but TP box is easy to come by.
the l 200 engine needs the magna cam to run the water pump and the magna front timing chain cover
also you need to run solid tappets
what are you going on about? the guy has/wants to transpant the motor into his magna, therefore doesn't need to use any magna parts except maybe a mount or two and the transmission.
also not aware that the 4g6x was chain driven.
and anyways, running solid lifters on a hydralic lifter spec cam? the solid lifters would be wound out all the way to one side... it's not advised if your gonna be pushin the motor a bit. its cheap enough to get a solid lifter cam made up.
l200 is trition
triton was the replacement to the l200... not the same
anyways logik, i can send you the full scans off the TP or TM manual. any section you want. i aleady got the electrical section scanned in. sounds like a good, fun project. we were going to transpant a DOHC 2.0 4g63 into a RC colt, but never got around to it. we fuel injected a sigma instead lol
your chances of the motor bolting in to the magna are high, except the mount on the front of the motor (passenger side mount) will need modifying or something custom. not sure what mounts you'd need to use, but you should be able to work something out between the original magna mounts and the 4g63 mounts.
good luck with it.

thankyou for all the responses
i'm aware the mitsu transmissions are flexible and are able to fit different series narrowblock
motors. i had a cordia turbo gearbox on my colt (approx 110hp atw on 16psi, 4g32)

the car itself isnt worthy of having pictures taken. it was my mums car who passed away earlier this year, and she got a work order on it a few months before.
replaced all doors including hatch, front quarters, grille, big patches of primer. car was originally cream/yellow but donor car was blue so i look like i care about the football or something (eagles). i live right on the beach so anything just rusts away within years.
i'll take a photo once the swap is done.
