I have just bought a 2002 TJ Advance and noticed some post about rear windscreen problems.
Noticed something peeling off the rubber.
Is it paint? What's the best thing to do. Have heard some time ago that some Magna rear window are not fitted properly (factory recall?). Can it pop out?

hey

The way to tell if the rear windscreen is rooted is if there is condensation on the inside of the window or very noticable squeaks the paint peeling thing your describing is well "normal" so to speak my car is the same.

The bit thats peeling is just a cover. Nothing really to worry about, but you can get it replaced. If the window is squeeking then the seals will need to be replaced.

It's not quite normal - the TJ windscreens have a defect, and Mitsubishi will replace the TJ rear screen with a TL rear screen if your car is still under warranty - although in my case I had to shop around to find a dealer who would agree with me after Northsore Mitsubishi accused me of using windex on the rear screen.

The paint process was improved in the Magnas from late '03 onwards, for the rear screen mould. Any screen up to early TL could have the paint peeling on the mould, it's only an appearance problem, and won't affect the rear screen in any way!

I have had my rear window replaced twice now. The first time was when i brought the car brand new the dealer advised it needs to be replaced due to a problem with the glue Mitsubishi used when attaching the rear window. The second time was when the paint started pealing off the rear window seal. I took it back to the dealer and they advised the rear seal doesn't come separate and they would replace the whole lot. One downside was i had to pay to get the rear window tinted again.

Can't see why Mitsu chose to paint rubber seal.
What have you guys done................ scrape all the paint off or repaint the seal?
