Fitted some Kings Low rear and Super Low front springs and KYB Excel-G shocks to our TJ AWD Sports this weekend and here's the result. I guess it will need to settle in a bit, but the height is already looking pretty good :D And it only took 2 hours start to finish to make the transformation!

I bought the 18x8 wheels from a Melbourne AMC member about 6 months ago (sorry forgot who  ) but only managed to put some tyres on and fit them this weekend.

The car now rides firmer than the factory Sports suspension, but still nice enough for a daily driver (in fact my wife drives our 3 kids around in it!)

Will post some decent outdoor pics soon.

What do we think of the new look?

looks good mate, much better.
I am looking at installing the same spring combination in the next few weeks as well. Are the springs and shocks difficult to install yourself?

Thanks guys, I was after a look that made it look more modern, but still kinda factory - and think I got there :P

hlll3 - The springs/shocks are quite easy to fit at home. Apart from a trolley jack, stands and regular socket set, all I used in addition were:

- Spring compressor tools (got from a garage sale for 10 bux)
- Air compressor and rattle gun (100 buck supercheap combo - pictured - not a must but makes undoing wheelnuts, strut-top nuts, nuts/bolts and compressing/releasing spring compressors a snack!
- Beer

Pulling compressed springs out of struts is dangerous business if you've never done it before, but with spring compressor tools, it's a perfectly safe task. Mine look like this (plenty on ebay too)

Looks good!!! I want my car to be that low now, the ppl that lowered it did the worst job EVER! the front it pretty low but the butt sticks up so high!!!
Anyone got any suggestions on some good springs to buy for my car?

dude you need a side on shot like the before shot to really compare.

Yeah, it was too dark outside to take a good pic and that's the best angle I could get in the shed. Will get a side on shot and post it up.

Also, I measured hub centre to guard lip dimensions before, immediately after, plus will measure again after a coupla weeks of settling in. Will post them up too.

For those wanting the same combo - Pretty sure AMC sponsor Phillcom Rally are selling the same package I used - for about 200 bux less than the 'mates rates' I got thru a mate at Repco 6 months ago. Phillcom deal closes 31/7/07 from memory - ie TOMORROW!

After a week of settling in - here's how it's sitting.

Not anywhere near as low as some of the machines on here  - but I reckon it's the perfect road car now :D - at a good height to suit the wheel/tyre combo

Really happy with the ride quality and handling too!

Gotta admit that looks pretty damn sweet.

Sorta what I want to do to my next car, which as it stands atm will either be a TF Manual or TJ Auto, as they sit in around the same $$$ (Speaking of which, given I'd prefer a manual, is it worth sacrificing the manual box for an auto to have the newer car? Both are Exec models).

Roughly what did that cost you to do? I'm not a fan of modifications to cars myself, so I'll probably pay someone to fit it for me, but an idea of parts cost would be nice :)

Cheers.

The wheel/tyre combo just shy of $1100
4W wheel alignment $50
Springs/shocks about $800

It's so much more fun to drive now!!!

From what I read, I think next mod might be front swaybar upgrade (or at least the link pins)
