I've found i can't get under $250 without it being a backyard job. I'll be getting tint soon, $250 lifetime warranty.

i got mine done by wjm window tinting. He is mobile and can come to you. i have had a few mates cars done by him as well(3M 20%) He also does the cars for some dealers in brissy. Also works from home at Forest Lake. Cost ya around $250. but dont expect any warranty for film below 35%vlt

I got "Midnight Express" done on my magna for $290 done by Tint A Car in Vic Park, but for the record they busted a heap of stuff in my car, lost a couple of nuts for door trims, broke outer door handle frame thingo, didnt put my rear seat back in properly, so blah no-one go there.

No worries... Mind you, it was $170 for a 35% (legal tint), and i think dan charged Biohazard $190 for something silly like a 15% or something...Might have done skippys as well...
Not entirely sure...

lol thanks but the money i save on tinting would be negated by the petrol cost :P.
I might have another look around, might go with the brand name still, just to be on the safe side.

That is ridculous pricing for tint, ridculous in a good way for the customer, riduclous in a bad way for the retailer, I take it he works on quantity eg: 100 cars @ $170 is better then 10 cars @ $300. My next door neighbour owns 'protector auto' apparently he did my first car at cost, which was $185... Good on ya Dan for showing us there are decent people who r actually out there to help others

Yeah, he is a great guy too. Biohazard had an issue with his rear windshield, rang dan, then dan re-tinted it the next day...free of charge...
He used to be a detailer and cleaned as well as tinted show cars, but tinting has picked up and he doesnt detail unless its a special request...
Infact, when i got mine done, he was telling me how he did that autosalon show car 'MS 2J' Supra (silver one in SCOTY 2006, from nelsons bay, female owner).
Great guy. Highly recommend him.

$320 for Solace 20% tint. Momma paid for half and I paid the other. Had one of my previous cars done there that my dad now owns with the same 20% in 2000 and it's still perfect, no purple or bubbling.

I'm in brissy too... I paid $260 for 35% relective metallic tint and a lifetime warranty. The company name is tint plus. Google them :) they did a good job.
$400 plus, can't remember as i never actually paid for it. i had a feeling it was closer to $600 thou... tint a cars top line at the time.
it was done as a gift voucher and we made them tint the car on boxing day so that could have something to do with the cost... ahh well as i said i never paid for it....

can anyone pls explain what kind of different tints there are around?? got abit confused when i went down to the tinting place at sunnybank...
he told me that there are 3 types...
-dyed
-non-metalized
-metalized
which is good and what advantages does it have? looking somehow at cheap tint but then again i wont want something that wouldn't last or have bubbles...
so far my safest bet would be the 3M ones that they offer for $300...
any other recommendations or at least what should i be looking out for?

dyed tints r the ones that fade over time
u want metalised if u want it to block out heat and UV n not just look dark. Also doesn't bubble.
Paid $350 from solar tint in blacktown but got their highest quality 63% Heat reduction and 99% UV reduction and they were great. At a very low VLT (visible light transfer) too.
though that is said I can get tinting done for close ones at round abouts $80 cash. with spf60+
$150 cash 5% or 20% tint. Nunawading/Mitcham area VICTORIA.
A few AMC members have got their tint through my guys so ask around and they'll be more than happy to tell you how happy they are. :D

i got my car done at solartint whetherill pk and they would have charged me $250 for the metalised tint with all the spicks and specs at retail, but coz i had a discount offer i got it cheaper

i got quoted $330 for 20% all round, including removal of old tint at a very reputable place, so around the $300 mark seems like the going rate, unless you can get it at mates rates.
cheers

got my silvia done by the tint professor - life time warranty (used 3 times so far - and no problems even though it was my fault) cost me $220 - darkest legal on the sides and the rear windscreen was way darker than legal ( but permitted). and it metallic in a black/green shade.
the rada came tinted from mitsubishi (via tint conditioning)
Paid $330 for the darkest legal 3M tint, from Sunny Tinting (BRISBANE). The shop is situated in the carpark of Sunnybank Plaza.
Basically a one-man operation. Anthony has 15 years experience and is quick & skilled at tinting. I've been really happy with his work, and the tint really looks good too.
He also has other tints ranging from the $99 "special" tint (but when you see it, it hardly looks tinted!) upwards. I reckon for somebody on a budget (or an older car), the $150-$170 will get you a pretty good tint.
My $0.02 worth anyway
