This may have been answered in the headlight FAQs which is now living in forum heaven. (hopefully this thread can turn into a new headlight FAQ as well; on the odd chance someone actually saved all that info)

The IDEA is to have both lights on when on Highbeam mode, and only lowbeams with parker when using normal headlights.
Standard Exec headlights turn the lowbeams off when the highbeams are on (both stay on while the lever is pulled back, only one remains on once it clicks in).

Im assuming this was done for a reason, possibly to increase long distance vision by reducing glare from the lowbeam's close dispersion. Or to stop heatbuild up?

Questions:
- Do standard parabolics (wired from factory) turn off the low beams when the high beams are on as the Exec headlights do?

If not: (Heath/someone who knows what they are talking about)
- Are there any drawbacks in terms of visibility by having the lowbeams and high beams on? Or in terms of heat output/prolonged highbeam use?

I want to know what the best option is for wiring up paras/highbeams

Cheers

no,

but exec lights do they use H4's and when on high beam the lowbeam light switches to high beam as well as the dedicated high beam coming on (both fillaments arent on at the same time)

Cheers, that answers all my questions then. I'll wire em up as per the guide.

(ahh yeh pity I only noticed the lack of supercharged in your usertitle after you had your car up for sale lol)
