hey guys, just thought id put up a post about my latest additions to my daily magna.

started the first stage on my last two days off
fitted the valves, tank, compressor, switch box and preasure switches.

bought a full kit, strut front and cylinder rear.
hopefully i will get this to lay right out on its rails as i am doing alot of cutting to do so.

this is the final design idea

That would be sick!! you will have to remove all your inner guards etc, and have to go 22 inch rims which hasnt been done either

good luck

good stuff man!!!! :P

you will inly lay rail on 14's trust me

you have to re design the whole rear end to get much lower than some of us i have looked into it

ohh and 22's arent ever going to fit when low, but looks the goods

take your springs out and bumpstops and thats as low as it will go...

i found that my wheel hits the tubular suspension arm that hold on the L arm... damn irs
if it had a beam rear axle it'd be easier

1 question why cans on the rear?

they dont have shock absorbers and arent really suitable for a car the magnas size

hey guys,

ye all the inner guards have been removed, and the wiring was relocated today so on full drop the tyres wont kill my wiring.

even if i cant lay rails out it will still look phat, but im going to be doing all i can to get it that way.

cans in the rear are giving me more options with room, not hving to allow for bag boldging. and cause i want to run atleast 20"s, i dont have the room to spare.

sweet idea, loved the look of a car dropped, but not too far though will look a bit silly. good on u for having it all planned out properly and doing it all yourself (i think).

congrats.

Wish u luck dude.. i was going to do it but too hard without way to much fabbing.. The rear of mine is 1 inch off max low.. body already hits if i put someone in the rear.. only way you can is cut all the inner rear arches out and that will involve no back seat.. i didnt wanna do that.. Thats where all the action happens..:P also front on mine is 2 inchs off max space too.. would have to remove half the engine bay to make it go lower than that.. saying all that im 4 inchs lowered on 20s..:)

Good luck.. hope u do it.. if u do i will NV You...:)

22s would be cool..:P i tried some on a few weeks back to make brembos fit.. ment i would have to lift car up to turn wheels. dont wanna lift it.. and it was $4000 just for wheels then plus suspension work.. Tohard.. ill just puff guards and keep the 20s.. 22s did look the HOTTEST..:)

i was pretty sure you'd only need 17-18" for most brembos?

17s.. but calipers are massive width wise.. they hit the spokes.. i have to much dish on my wheels and also thick spokes.. when wheel goes on spokes hit caliper.. All sorted though..:)U will see in a few weeks..:)

body already hits if i put someone in the rear.. Easily fixed with aircoils, just pump more air to the rear!
In fact wagon rears are the easiest and most practical; no macpherson strut to worry about converting, just replace the coil, and when you have a load in the back, just increase the pressure, and keep loading up! Load comes out, reduce the pressure. You can stay at the same height no matter how much load is in there.

But none of that will make the car lower.. it will retain height no matter what load..

I dont mind it hitting.. reminds me every few mins that car is way to low.. its cool..:)

lol just like when i tried on a 22" wheel

but it was a 22x9.5 and the wrong offset, pffft like thats going to fit, cleared the strut and with correct width and offset and the 225/30/22's being only a few mm taller than the 20's over all

so easy to be sone

and haha i got quoted under 3.5k all new
i rember i paid that for my 18's only a couple of years ago :doubt:

Ummmm.......you do realise it is a Magna and a TE Magna at that ?

The mod you are in the middle of completing is worth more than the car but i'm sure you took that into consideration before undertaking the project.

You would be wanting to keep the car forever or be prepared to lose a lot of money when it comes time to sell.

But, good to see someone doing something different.

I think most people in on this forum has spend more money on there car then they are worth.. You dont do mods for resale as it dont do anything. if anything mods decrease the value of car. Instead we do it for a hobby to make our cars look better and more enjoyable when driving..:)

I reckon ive spent 3 times what my car is worth..:)

i wont let anyone put me off guys.

people that complain about money, dont have it in the first place.
when you are financially as solid as a rock, you are always looking for new ways to keep yourself entertained. hehe

and to make it worse for all you guys complaining about costs, this is only for my daily and tow car.

Funny how things work, Someone does something totally unique to a magna and they say, nah looks stupid. yet someone will post up pictures of there Chrome LED washer nozzles and people will say "good job!"

hojo
01-08-2007, 09:45 PM
i'd take airbags over those chrome crappy washer cover thingys... i'd also take a wide body look with chrome dish AND whitewalls :D... if only the car was black

but it would seriously look phat!! btw, wen will some1 look at making their car VIP style... if i had the money i would, but i dont so it'll have to wait :(

I would like to know bout that too. something that i have always wanted to do to a car but i have always wondered if it would compromise the handeling? or Does it improve it over standard?

Dunno about Magnas, but correctly bagged VT-VZ Commodores seem to have a very good ride. Handle better than stock from what I've heard.

I don't understand the logic behind doing it, and I wouldn't do it to my own car (never mind the engineering headaches and legalitites) but kudos for doing something different.

I agree with the comment about chrome washer nozzles etc. :gtfo:

Did you say this was for a tow car??!! Might want to rethink the back config then!

anything is possible.... ur only limited by imagination.....and money he he. if you plan on using 20inch wheels make sure u use a higher offset like a 45 to 50 to give clearence from the very restricting front guards u may want to consider a 7.5" rim 2. but either way major structural boby parts will have to be removed and re-engineered to make it all work properly while keeping the strength so it doesnt twist and and fall apart. over engineering is never a bad thing, but in saying that u have to get a signatory to put their name to it all as well. while taking all this into consideration u still have to maintain 66% of factory suspension travel, while this seems like alot, consider that u will have a 100mm bump stop in there to get it all passed and cans dont move that far...plus u will need huge lift in the front to make this thing turn, while tuckin so much font rim. having bagged several cars, trucks ect i have experienced most of this. hope this helps u out.GOOD LUCK WITH THE BUILD.

back is now complete, except for putting on my spacers, rears need to be spaced out 8mm to get a further inch of drop.

front still needs to be done yet.

here are some of the pics.
