Hi, have anyone has experience using Alpine S-type SPS-69C3 and SPS-17C2 ? I really need to know how good are they with an 4x50 RMS amp. Thanks...

Never used Alpine gear. Any speaker driven off a smallish 4x 50WRMS amp will be a very big improvement over running off the deck. That power level is reaching the limits of those particular speakers anyway.

More power for headroom is never a bad thing, just remember though that you would really need double the power to notice a huge increase in sound. If you want better sound quality, then that is why people spend big $$$ on say a V12 instead of the V power series.

I would personally ditch the SPS-17C2's for the SPS-171A if you have to have Alpine. They are only an extra $100RRP.

i've got last years series of this speaker, i've got them hooked up to a 600 watt schneider amp and they run bloddy good, there a loud speaker(but i have no bass runnig though them though), they will run fine with a 4x50rms amp. :D

I've got all alpine gear in my car (except the headunit). S-series SPS-171A in the front doors and SPS-69C3 in the parcel shelf. they run of the MRP-F250 4 channel amp, basically designed for them. they run 50wrms per channel. You will never hear me say a word bad about them, infact all i will do is rave.

I also have the MRD-M605 V12 mono-block amp running the R series sub. I have to say that this system is amazing for the money i spent on it. it is not the most expensive system but sounds really good. nice and clear and if you want to the sub can put out a huge amount of noise, i keep mine toned down a bit tho.

All in all, awesome products, for the price they are really good

As with everything it depends what you're relating them to. There are many much better speakers out there, i personally am not a fan of alpine speakers at all.

But like their processors and older amps. Older subs are alright too.

Listen to Dyn morel vifa etc to see what you're missing out on. But these come at a cost.

thnx for the replies.
I bought my alpine gears from JB hifi and waiting for the installation.
The sales guy told me that the way alpine designed their S-type speakers, it only makes a little bit of difference in sound quality between coaxials and splites. So he recon spending extra 100$ for the splites will be a waste of money.

Is that information right??? Does anyone know about it???

This is why high end car audio stores do not believe in demo boards...

From a staging point of view, the guy at JB has probably never been to or seen a high end SQ car or competition to know the difference. Ask him about the crossover and why the coaxials only has a 6db/octave HP for the tweeter and why the splits have an external xover unit?
