Hi All,
I would like to start up a new thread discussing which Magna Models perform well after an LPG Conversion and which do not perform so well.
As the government has introduced the $2000 rebate for converting to LPG, people (like me) are thinking about or have recently converted their car.
This thread will be useful to people who are thinking about getting the conversion, and would like to know if the particular model Magna they own will have problems or run like a dream on GAS. It will also be useful for people who have LPG Problems to find a fix for their car.

Hi All,
I have heard nothing but praise from people who have converted this model to LPG. It actually has the same power, runs smother and some how uses less fuel... Amazing... Does anyone have any complaints/regrets about converting this model to LPG?

To cut a long story short, about 6 months ago I got my TS V6 Magna converted to LPG and have had nothing but problems. I do not recommend anyone converting their TS V6 to LPG.
Here is a list of the problems:
1. Check Engine Light is on when on gas - As computer detects fuel injector’s disconnected.
2. LPG Vaporiser keeps going lean - I retune the vaporiser as it goes lean after about 3 weeks. I am getting sick of retuning it. (It is getting a bit better as I have not needed to retune it for about 5 weeks now)
3. The car is lumpy when taking off.
4. Cannot Idle with A/C on - The mixture lean when I switch on the A/C. If I tune it so the mixture is OK with A/C on, then when the A/C is off it goes so rich it almost stalls.
5. Learning Computer goes out of tune - When running on LPG, the computer still thinks it is learning and slowly forgets the petrol mixture. You will never know until you switch over to petrol. Then it takes about 30Kms of driving before the learning computer re-learns. In the mean time the car has no power and is almost stalling at Idle. I believe the mixture is so lean it may do engine damage. I have taken it back a few times, and basically they have told me I need to run on Petrol twice a day (warm up on petrol and also run on petrol for the last 2 Km of the day). This helps a bit, but does not completely fix my problems. Also why would I bother converting my car to LPG when I need to run Petrol twice a day? The RAA will not help me (hence I cancelled my RAA Membership).
The LPG System is M.G.A. Large. Details are as follows:
1. GASTEC FP31 Fuel Processor Installed.
2. APEXUS (C0202) Petrol Start.
3. ZAVOLI ITALY Converter/Vaporiser
4. Mixer - Unknown.
Has any one else experienced problems after converting their V6 TR/TS Magna?
I have been told simply fitting a resistor to the power feed of the injectors will fix the Check Engine Lamp. Can anyone confirm this fix works for the TS V6 Magna?
I had a look at the Mitsubishi Webpage, and found that the TR/TS V6 does not even support a LPG. See http://www.mitsubishi-motors.com.au/...n_vehicles.jsp for more details.

Had a TR 4 cylinder that worked well on LPG before the heater or something in it siezed.

Well it took about 8 months in of playing around to get by TS V6 Magna to run on gas properly.
Here is how I fixed each of the problems:
Problem
1. Check Engine Light is on when on gas - As computer detects fuel injector’s disconnected.
Fixed for 1. Put a relay in line with the Check Engine Sink on the ECU. This relay is normally closed, and opened when on gas.
Problem
2. LPG Vaporiser keeps going lean - I retune the vaporiser as it goes lean after about 3 weeks. I am getting sick of retuning it. (It is getting a bit better as I have not needed to retune it for about 5 weeks now)
Fix for 2. This got better by itself. It took about 8 months for the vaporiser to run in.
Problem
3. The car is lumpy when taking off.
4. Cannot Idle with A/C on - The mixture lean when I switch on the A/C. If I tune it so the mixture is OK with A/C on, then when the A/C is off it goes so rich it almost stalls.
Fix for 3. and 4. Configured the GasTec computer to run in closed loop at idle. Was initially installed to only run in closed loop with partial throttle.
Problem
Fix 5. Put a relay in line with the 02 mixture sensor and the ECU. This is normally closed, and opened when on gas. This way when I run on gas, the ECU does not get any mixture signal and thus does not adjust the mixture lean. Note the GasTec computer is always connected to the 02 mixture sensor.

They obviously like the 3rd Gen ;)

i called www.ezygas.com.au
they said all good and a mixer system is $2500 or injection system $4000 before the rebate
so 500 out of pocket!
12mth wty etc...
and they said it's fine on a std magna engine as their system is different to the impco type system where you need hardened valve seats etc...
on the traditional system there is a loss of power, but at a touch of a button your back on petrol and there is no loss, the injection system makes the same power... and if your lucky even a small increase in power
i'd look further into the hardened valve seats before doing the conversion 1st... cheap insurance i reckon even if they reckon they arent needed

My dad has one of the few TJ II's with Factory LPG.
Runs like a dream, very economical. He's happy with it.

I had a TE put on gas with 20ks on the clock, sold it with 220ks on it and it never missed a beat. So reliable that I got the same system put on my TL. :D
if you want a good reliable system go for a impco system.. they are very simple and give the least problems.
after lpg is fitted to any car the tuning will keep changing for at least the first 5000km.. this is because the diaphrams are softening.
if installed right you should have no problems like engine lights turning on i would take it back to the installer and tell him to fix the problem.
and at the end of the day if you want reliable lpg system get rid of the fuel system.

im guessing your comparing this to just normal 91ron.
was thinking of getting a biggyback ecu and would tune to 98.
or my other option is to go for the money saving option for the long run and get lpg.
hmm power or saving money.
would be cool if there was a high performance lpg.

i have ts on gas and i have had no probs. with the engine light they made up a diode and resistor box that when on gas it doesnt have the engine light on but if theres a problem the light comes on.
i fit lpg systems at work and i highly think that impco systems are a heap of *****. we are all ways fitting leaning rings and there all ways backfiring.
we only fit mga systems or prins or vrs gas injection systems.
i had my car dynoed on both gas and petrol (when stock) i had more power on gas.
fit a impco b2 converter and a 225 or 300a mixer you will not have any problems.
only 2 adjustments no computers.
