Just wondering from people who may be 'in the know'. But is it possible to chop the roof of a magna down? I love the magna shape but Always thought it'd look mad with a lower roof line.
Know you could do it with old school cars but wasn't sure about modern ones?

It can be done mate Just be prepared to for out some major $$!!
Best bet is to ring up a few hot rodding shops, although money is on this will be the first time they would of chopped a roof on a magna

Yeah, should be able to be done.
As TuffTR said, find a good Hot Rod shop and they'll let you know.
You'll have the cost of chopping it, fitting it back together again, exterior paintwork, interior trim, Custom glass for all windows, etc. oh and maybe an engineers certificate as well.
So, yeah, big $$$ but may look good if done well with lots of other mods.
1st, 2nd or 3rd gen Magna?
Photochop anyone?

I'd say it'd be possible, and being pillar-less doors, one of the easier roof chopping jobs too. As only the side glass would need modifying, not the whole door. although it'd be kinda like chopping the roof on a 300C, i honestly think its probably low enough already.

Nah I reckon it could go lower, Ive got a fair amount of headroom that could be expended. If I had the cash I'd do it but me being poor have only my dreams.
Yea someone do a photo chop. we're not talkin 'EXTREME ROOF CHOP!!' just sumthin nice, subtle and classy.

i did a chop on the roof of a 380 in photoshop, it looked stupid as the body was too thick....its in my photoshop link if you want to search it.

my head hits the roof already.. i have a sunroof though so i have lost a bit of height because of that.. but still, there isnt much room to bring it down...

Hell gremlin you must be a tall one, hows the air up their?
Im right for large cars but put me in a small car and every time we go over a bump my head knocks the roof. Hate sitting in excels, despite them being the most bargain basement car ever made they have barely enough head room for a gnome to feel comfy.

Engineering certificate will be the biggest hurdle. The physical act of making it lower would probably prove a lot easier than actually getting it certified.
Look up an automotive engineer and give 'em a call. The RTA might be able to give you some contacts.

I'm guessing the two biggest problems would be the $$$ and the angles.
I just did a quick chop and it wasn't that easy due to the angles of the rear screen/panels. So I'm guessing that the chop in real life would be difficult too.
But then again, just look at the work done on Darryl McBeth's car - lots of things are possible given the time and $$$. Hot Rod/Custom bodywork places do all kinds of chopped/custom cars - and I guess they get Engineer Certs.
Anyway, I don't know how to use photoshop etc. but here's what I was able to do using MSPaint... lol
P.S.
SILENCR, hope you don't mind me using your car. Didn't have a side shot of my car and yours had such an easy background.

dont know bout others but that actually looks hotYeah I thought that too.
At first I thought it was going to look unbalanced - too much door and not enough side windows.
But afterwards it gives the car a sleek/hot look. Would be interesting to see it in real life (dreaming of someone doing this - like that's ever going to happen! lol)
None of us could afford it and if we could, the thoughts of other things like audio, superchargers, or a new car would change the roof chop plans.
Now when i look back at the 'before' shot, it looks like a bubble on top.
Puck goes home and dreams of a roof chopped Ralliart... nah!

That looks mad, awesome job.
It reminds me alot of the Toyota Aurion. Im sure if this was done in real like it wouldn't have that chucky soup look. it'd be heaps sleek. The magna shape is made for it. Now Im just gunna go sell a kidney to finance this venture.
