Hey All
Recently acquired a 1989 TP EFI SE Magna - Ive noticed that when i start it ONLY when its stone cold, that it struggles to idle - most of the time, if u dont ride the accelerator, it stalls
any ideas as to what could be causing this?
so far ive done the following
changed the coolant temperature sensor
full service, inc air filter, fuel filter, plugs, leads, distributor cap n rotor
cleaned the throttle body
checked the airflow meter along with duct to throttle body for cracks - nothing

anyone got any other ideas as to what could be causing this?
Cheers,
Chris

thanks chief, ill see if i can get my hands on one at the local parts store
its manual, so does that count the throttle pos sensor out?
thanks!
just with the stepper motor, is that also known as the idle speed control motor?

had a similar problem myself thought it was my tps even after replacement the simptoms where wouldnt idle when cold, would stall at intersections when not running at the usual half temp. dave told me how to adjust it all and its now golden.

how to check and adjust (this is from memory so correct me if i fubar it)

the test? unplug the stepper motor and see if the car will start and idle by itself. if no adjust the idle stop screw untill you get about (750-800 rpm manual transmission - 850 - 900 autos) at running temp idle stop is the one on the passenger side of the throttle body. then adust the stepper motor stop (driverside of the throttle body) i done mine by tightening it untill the motor started to gain rpm at idle then back it off about 2 turns as there is a switch on the stepper motor that tells the ecu when the throttle is closed and idle up if needed. replug it all in
