There's a small cogged wheel inside the rear hub. It's kind of hard to see if there's heaps of oil and crap in the way so just dig in there with your screw driver and you'll find it. That's the thing you need to turn. It sits vertical to the hub and turns up and down.

i am going to have a look at this. i jacked my car up on the weekend to put my new mags on and discovered that the passenger rear wheel still spun as normal with the handbrake on. the drivers side clamped normally. i will first check the cable is ok.

Remove a caliper from one side ( 2 bolts) and take the disc off,
you will see how it all works then. One side adjusts by winding upwards
the other side down. Slack off the lever adjustment under the rear of consol
first, adjust shoes each side till you hear the brakes drag as u spin the rotor
then back off one or two clicks on the adjuster. When u r happy with that
take out most of the slack at the lever. Easy:cool:

Check that the anchor on the handbrake outer cable is attached with the top caliper bolt on both sides, if you've had brake work done recently the 'experts' can miss this, if so no h/brake on that side. it happened to me ,now I do my own work.

well i took out the centre console and the cable for the side that isn't working has been tightened a heap more than the side working but they still pull the same. i tried tightening up the pads until they made the rotor harder to turn but it still made no difference. the cable does have a bit of a gap from when the cable starts to move untill when it starts to actually clamp the pads on the loose side, but i didn't check the other side. i think i will just take it to my mate who is a mechanic and get him to do it, cause i'm too lazy.
