Enjoying rattle free driving now. Changed front shocks to KYB gas and also changed the strut-top plates which house the bearing. Also renewed all spring insulators and pump stops.:) which contributed to the rattle more, the worn plates or shocks. Main thing is that it’s silent now.
Old, left side (Pedders Sports Ryder) pump was totally gone, right side was half way down to graveyard - this all after some 70G km of hard gunning. Those KYBs feel ok, similar to the Pedders when they were new, time will tell about the quality.
I’ll check the rear later.
Been spending fair bit of money on the boy recently – first new steering rack, then the autobox detonated and now these. He better be good to me for a while then!

"strut-top plates".. how do you know when they are gone...??
when i take a hard left, the front right makes a bit of a 'bang'.... then i when i brake hard... same 'bang' noise.. like as if something was dislodged and then put back into place...

Well, it was bit tight to turn by hand compared to the new one. But I didn't think it would have made such diff - obviously needs helluva load before it fails, hand turning is not really sufficient ...
Part number attached. Cost 114 bux each.
In your case, I'd check all suspension bolts etc, if something gives in. Incl wheel nuts.

Just wondering if anyone has ever had to do the rear strut tops as well?
Also, does anyone know if the clearance place in Adelaide has these front tops?
Thanks.

If I recall correctly, the rear tops are just guide plates. No bearing cos they don't need to turn, hence no looseness there. But as I said, it's been a while since I was looking at them.

Thanks guys. Bit off the topic but does anyone know if they have exhaust components, mainly a cat back to rear of a KJ AWD?
Thanks.
