i got off my backside and started re-trimming the dodgy white vynil doors i did a few years ago, this time taking a lot more time (and starting from scratch, not overlaying the original trim!)
i got the dark red micro-suede from Spotlight, around $20/m and a 5mm padding for underneath at clark rubber for about $5/m, some spray adhesive was about $15 also.
finished one door today, the power window switches and console will go gloss black, with chrome door handles, red VRX dials, and red + black ralliart steering wheel.
i'll send the seats off to the professionals eventually, although they'll have to wait a bit!

Nice work! Stylish!
Good choice with the Black Electric Window Switch Panels. I just had mine painted Gloss Sable Black, they look nice.
Why chrome handles? Most of the rest of the car will be red/black?

nice, got any photos of how yours came out?
i was thinking with the chrome handles, i might get the outer section colour-matched red to the suede, and just have the chrome inner, will see how they look once they're in. I've already got the chrome scuff plates, heap of exterior chrome and the dash rings are shiny, so shouldn't look too out of place

had a look at the steering wheel today against the door trims, looks like it will match very close! wooot
heres a sneak peek, dials, switches and wheel not fitted yet, but i did spend a LOT of time today doing VERY little things. oh, booked in for a new headunit and the centre speaker is underway aswell! i got a little carried away.

for those wondering about the lit-up key surround, after a quick look there is a small bulb in the back on the driver side, which is just s small wire leading down to a small plug, thats cable tied to the loom! I'd be surprised if it wasn't part of the standard loom that is just left out on some models

there was another thread about it somewhere, apparently it seems only KE and KF's had the full surrounds?
i got mine from Andrewd, but apparently they are cheap from a dealer anyway. (stock grey are only $6)

new headunit went in yesterday, the difference in sound quality is awesome! the previous eclipse unit had very low RCA voltage, and picked up a bit of interference, this thing is clean as, and much more user-friendly
the centre speaker is still under construction, and i gotta work a bit more on the lights colours, to try and even out the redness, but once its finished the whole console and dial surrounds will be painted the same gloss black as the window switches, and the VRX dials with chrome rings will be fitted.

Ooooh, should look good with the rest black... I had all my plastic centre console & window switches done in gloss black, and have the JVC KD-AVX1, the baby daddy of yours. Look great all matching. How much and where did you pick yours up from? Does it have a few more SQ features on it, such as time alignment etc ?
Oh, and just a heads up on the gloss black, it shows the dust so quickly, I keep a microfibre towel in my glovebox, and you'll become very paranoid over scratches to it, as black shows them very easily.

yeah can't wait till the rest of the console is finished! looks a bit out of place now, as the switches are black, console silver and the rest is all grey, but should tie in nicley once its all done
i got the headunit supplied and installed by tonkins for $1400, which is damn good seeing they retail for $1450! might give em a call tomorrow and see how the centre speaker is coming :D
it has similar features to my old Eclipse unit (time alignment, EQ etc), but a few more like GIGA-MP3 and Divx compatibility, USB and SD card input, seperate AV output for rear screens if i decide to get any, so rear passengers can watch something while still listening to mp3/radio in front. theres even reverse camera and bluetooth add-ons you can get aswell!

yeah i've already seen a lot of finger prints, and i haven't even driven it yet! at least its done properly in 2-pack so it shouldn't wear off like the standard crap does, hopefully that answers your question Apollo441, just take yours to a good crash repairer (they come out easily enough) and ask for them to be resprayed properly. i can't believe they moulded them out of brown plastic in the first place!!

Damn, mine has most of that except the time alignment, USB and SD card input (these 2 are understandable as mine is single din). I was so disappointed about the time alignment. At least JVC have fixed that up now in later models.
Do you use Tonkins in Salisbury or the city? I wasn't overly impressed by the city shops service...

not normally a fan of white in interiors, but that looks quite decent! what did you use to spray the bottom half? i was originally planning to do mine similar, just red and black, but i knew to do it properly would be a MASSIVE job, so i didn't bother :D

its not painted, its re-covered in white vinyl. it is a pretty big job but wont chip off like painting it would.

they look good hey.
did you change the colour of the numbers to, or just put the red vr-x dials over the old one?

hey mate, i got the dials from a member on here, they are from the TJ series 1 VRX LE, so they have the analog odometer which is compatible with the older models like mine, and i got the chrome rings from Slyts6 on these forums also, as he makes them up himself, great finish on them too!

Got a link, I can't find them...
Also is the prep work for 2-pack any different from ordinary paint? I was going to do the same sort of thing to my consol etc but haven't got around to it yet. Did you put a few layers of gloss on after? Because I would have thought that would help reduse the scratches...

dammit ive got a gold car,
what the hell can you do with that.
most brake calipers don't work, matching the interior with the exterior paint is boring.
hmm. well i guess the interior doesn't have to match the exterior of the car.
is it worth paint brake calipers black. is it noticeable.
