here i go again... having another sook due to my lack of knowledge on cars..
ive driven other peoples STOCK! magnas... and they go WAY harder than mine has ever gone........
my mums 1997 nissan maxima 3.5 v6 has way more top end pick than mine...EATS IT IN NEUTRAL!!!:bowrofl:
my brother told me that maybe the custom exhaust leading from the cat doesnt have enough commpression and is causing the car to lack quite a bit of power..
ALSO.. .save me starting a new thread....
what are my limits on ENGINE MODS.
ive been told im not even aloud a POD filter but ive seen many P platers on here with em
just curious?
thanks all

It could be something to do with the zorst but dont forget you are driving a 3.5L auto not manual. And btw the maxima would kill the magna even it the magna was brand new. Get the zorst checked out and maybe just pop her in for another service if it hasnt been done yet!!

yeah shes due for 1 in the next 1000KMS
DOES the exhaust have much of a say in engine power? cause i may get a full extension made for it and this one re-formed so the tips arent sticking out the bottom, they point down and scrape up everything lol...... and it would look heaps better if they were imposed to the back bumper...
the other autos ive driven still have more gooooey in them.... they really fly compared to mine :(

Yeah just to clarify the maxima's are some of the most underrated engines going round.
They cetianly have some get up and go. My ex's brother who works at Kloster Nissan here in Newy showed me so.

I think you'll have to trade me your exhaust for mine, that'll fix everything :P.
Could be a few things, engine/transmission could be getting old, could be the exhaust. Take it to a mechanic and see what he reckons.

but i still want to fit my pod filter... does any 1 know were i can get a "pod adapter" from
the part were it goes from the HONEYCOMB box thing... then to the panel filter.... i wanna chop that part out and put the filter in the front bumper....

Definitely not allowed to have a dual exhaust, you'll have to trade me. LMAO.
It's not so much p platers, its any car. As long as you stick to the ADR's and road worthyness you'll be fine.
As for your pod adapter, autobarn sell them, but i recommend getting a K&N oval pod, comes with adapter and is built to go on a magna, standard pods don't work so well with the magnas air flow sensor, AND DO NOT cut out the honeycomb, that honeycomb stuff helps the air sensor get an accurate reading.

Well considering i just forked out $200 for tips, i'd probably sell the tips off or something.
But if you do get rid of the dual exhaust, let me know.

Whats better what puts out more boot.... and a good sound
k&n panel or Pod filter...
the dealer wont tell me... WTF?

the panel will give u the best results power wise, which in anycase isnt huge, but u should feel a difference, the pod will make the sucking noise, but i believe they are not as effective..
huhjared
13-08-2007, 06:44 PM
the only difference i feel with the panel is that i dont have to pay $40 every time i need to change the air filter... POD would give you the sucking sound... go to mac and taka a straw suck air in and thats the sound u gonna hear whenever u acc... but of course it would be like 10 times louder.... if u are into the loud mufflers and stuff definitely the pod if u are just hoping to get some performance save some money and stay stock then panel...

i can say with confidence that the best sounding filter i have used was a POD filter from Autobarn, which also sell metal adaptors. i ordered a K&N rampod filter for about 150 inc. postage, insurance. i must say, it doesnt sound as good, but it goes better. K&N FTW

Hey guys,
New here. I've got a standard POD on mine atm, but planning to get the "proper" K&N one as i've heard everywhere it's better for the MAS setup. Standard POD does sound pretty beefy though!
