firstly i have a TH magna and for the last little while there has been a noise coming from the power steering. it sounds like it is out of fluid but i have topped it up and keep an eye on it and it still does it. it does it more when it's cold. it counds like a vn commodore. so i think the pump is shagged.
has anyone replaced theirs and what sort of cost was it?
secondly, the front brakes make a god awful grinding noise when they get warm. you brake hardish and they make a deep grinding noise. i put some of the brake quietening stuff on the back of the pads but it didn't seem to do much. i think they are just crap pads. anyone else had this problem and just fixed it with new pads? the pads still have about 40% left on them so i don't want to go and put new pads on just to have it still there.

Your power steering pump may have a dying bearing or the belt mite be too loose.
As for the brakes, have a good look at the disc surfaces to make sure you arnt eating them.
You may have a rock etc caught between the pad and the disc.
If they are all smooth on both sides of each disc them get ya brakes checked.
There are plenty of places that do free assessments, just make sure you get second opinions on any big buck stories you get from em.:D

there isn't any rocks in there. i checked that when i took the brakes off to put the sutff on them. the rotors seem to be in ok condition. it only seems to be when the pads start to warm up. they don't do it for the first few times.
as for the chance of the belt being loose, we tightened it a while back cause it was slipping and it didn't change the noise at all.

ok, well my power steering pump is getting worse. i hopped in it the other day and when i first turned the steering it was very rough (sort of stop/start turning). and i think it may be causing my steering problem. at about 80kmh and above i have a wobble. now before you say "wheel balance" if i cruise at light load or coast there is no vibration, but as soon as i load up the motor it gets really bad. if i push the clutch in it goes away completely. i checked the rack ends and ball joints on the weekend and there was no play in any of them.
i also have a noisey front left strut and the drivers side engine mount is split, so they may be other possible causes. also if you go round a bit of a bend it gets worse while you are turning, yet if you push the clutch in it goes away.
on the weekend it was doing it slightly at 60kmh but that has gone away again. it is starting to really bug me.
