hey guys

I was wondering if someone could give me advice about the keyless entry system problem.

I own a 1999 KH Verada Xi and the keyless entry system has seem to of gone in it.
I have 2 key fobs and replaced the batteries in both of them and tried reprogramming them, but it wont reprogram the keyfobs. Usually when u reprogram the keyfob it beeps when u successfully reporgramed the keyfob (as i've done this many times before) but it doesn't do this. I'm thinking it maybe a problem with the main unit.

I was wondering also where abouts the actual main unit that controls the keyless entry system of the car and where abouts it is situated inside the car.

Cheers

find some one else with a magna /verada and see if you can program your fobs to their car.
this will isolate your problem

How are you reprogramming them?
With the gen3 remotes (http://martybugs.net/magna/remote.cgi), there's no beep when they are reprogrammed - are they similar to the KH remotes?

Martin.

are you using the black key in the ignition or the grey "valet" key(which won't program remotes) Also, i thought maybe you need one to be working to program another i.e can't change batteries at the same time?????

you can change both batteries at the same time.

i had a problem with mine. it turned out that some of the solders on the board inside were stuffed, so i had to get a new fob.

I've had similar issues (it's due to poor design), and it's not too hard to fix the solder joints (http://martybugs.net/magna/remote.cgi).

I read your link re. fixing the solder joints. Excellent! I have had to do exactly the same thing myself, as the basic design is pretty ordinary.
