driving along yesterday listning to my tunes all good etc etc, come home park the car, in the morning (today) go to drive off and nothing...no sound...headunit wont light up at all (which doesnt turn on the amps)
Im like ok....
Weird, My Screen still powers up, and my gauges hooked up to the same power source also light up, yet my LED's which are hooked up to it dont light up:nuts:
Checked HU Fuse, Engine bay fuses, and Under dash fuses just to be safe and nothing, all clean..
I checked the out the power to the HU with a Test light and it works...
What else can i try? Just been without music in a car for 4 months cause the 28 year old HU in the XD faclon crapped itself and now this one has:nuts:
Its a JVC KDG 615....

Perhaps one of your wires to your amps is shorting on something causing the HU to go into protection mode? Very weird...

Errrr, hmmmm, you checked some fuses and thought the rest would be fine too? So you didn't bother? And even marked them off as all clear.

I would be a little concerned on why it actually blew. Make sure your wires are soldered and headshrunk just to make sure. Unless of course you know you accidently did something.

yeah soldering and heatshrinking takes 5 minutes extra but saves SOO much time when you dont have to fix little problems like this.

Well im sure i inspected off of them becuase they all didnt look blown and i inspected each one closely, so i might of missed one while going back and forth while doing other stuff and missed one in the rush...
makes me wonder why it blew too, i only took out and put back in the interior light while all doors were closed...
oh well
gave me a chance to clean up some of the non-used wires behind my HU clearing it up a bit.
I know im stupid i know i know..

Again, it blew a fuse:nuts:
Dont know how a bump makes you blow a fuse but it blew something, so i replaced it and it all works now.
while i had the dash out i tidied up ALL wiring (electrical taped it together:)) and moved the PS2 under the seat:)

You must have a loose power/ground wire somewhere if bumps are causing it to blow.
Or your skip protection in the HU has blown, haven't heard of that ever happening though.

No loose wires, checked every single one of them.
HU Fuse was fine too.
Was a pretty nasty pothole though....

I've heard of that happening before, only the one case though. Every time you took a speed hump with a CD playing it would blow the fuse, but didn't have an issue at all playing back the radio over bumps. Person in question replaced the deck and all was good, we are talking about one of those Audio Master or Audiosonic or something K-Mart POS decks though, a decent JVC shouldn't really experience such a problem.
If it keeps happening all I can suggest is borrowing a deck from someone and testing it for a day or two, if I had a spare one handy I'd loan it to you, but the only one I've got gets used every day, so your outta luck from me

What is the fuse rated at? It may be too low for the headunit?
Is it one of the engine bay fuses, or is it the inline fuse connected to the power wire?

Its the standard 10A fuse in the fuse block under the dash. I'm not too worried, Only happened once, Could of been some of my dodgey wiring somewhere
I don't mix'n'match fuses so i know its the right one:P
