could someone list all the parts which would be needed to perform a turbo conversion to a 3.5 magna. everything including turbo, intercooler, piping, wastegate, manifold and whatever else.

go and talk to a fabrication shop. I got a quote a 18 months ago, 8-10G for a single turbo kit with a fair bit of custom stuff made to suit. Most of a turbo setup on our cars is custom so not a lot you can buy off the shelf

Your way better off getting a sprintex kit 2nd hand when ever they come up.

Most complaints are just the tune, I think there have been 3 major things, 1 was an engine meltdown due to the interceptor not activating the 7th injector and I think 2 supercharger failures which were covered under warranty.
If you go turbo you'll be just as likely to have problems, aftermarket interceptor computers fail often and fry ecu's if not wired in properly.
Best person to talk to at the moment is Black Beard, whos been there and done that.
Edit: You have an auto 3lt, dont bother, you'll blow the box up and a manual 3.5 with a few mods will be faster

I have been there, done that, but I haven't experienced any problems with the turbos specifically (don't get me started on diffs though).
Okay here goes;
First thing you will need to decide is whether or not you are going to go with a Twin or Single turbo setup. It really only makes a difference in terms of your manifold / dump pipe options (and the number / type of turbo/s you need to buy obviously), because as everyone has already stated - everything else to do with the piping will need to be custom fabricated.
If you choose the twin turbo option, you will be able to get manifolds and dump pipe from RPW, and they are pretty good value when you add up how much it is going to cost to get these parts custom fabricated.
Apart from the obvious things (turbos/s, manifolds, dump pipe, intercooler), here's abit of a list of what went into my setup, but I'm sure I'll forget some things:
* Custom intake piping (piping from the air filter / MAF sensor to the turbo inlet/s)
* Custom intercooler piping (piping from the turbo outlet/s to the the intercooler, and from the intercooler outlet to the throttlebody)
* Custom Oil / Water lines
* Upgraded Fuel Pump
* Upgraded Fuel Injectors
* Boost controller
* Piggyback or full replacement ECU
* Aftermarket (generic) windscreen washer fluid bottle
Ummm. I think that covers most of it - it's been about a year since I got it done now so the memory is a bit hazy. But yeah - if you've got about an hour to kill, dig up the thread about the build up, that should pretty much tell you everything you need to know about what you are in store for if you go down the same path I did.

WRT the intercoolers, what would yous guys recommend on sizing for a single set up?
600x300x105mm do it?

Depends how much boost you are running. The temperature of the air comming out of the turbo is directly relative to how hard the turbo is working (ie: how much boost it is producing). But yeah - I'd say that size intercooler would be good for anything you would be looking at running in a magna.
That is of course if you can get it to fit. Mines 76mm thick and I've got almost 1 inch of metal shaved out of my rio bar to make it fit. Also depends where you run your intercooler piping - where mine is comming out, my 450mm cooler fits perfectly between the 2x 90deg bends.
I'd say your better off designing the pipe work, then picking the intercooler that fits best. Pretty silly buying an intercooler first, then having to design your whole setup around a $300 part.
