I have a 96 TE Auto Magna and have checked the auto oil after noticing it changing gears differently "like it lags to change to next gear" and i found that the oil is dark brown/black but it dont smell burnt? Ive only had the car about 3 mths and its only done 130 k.Is there any know problems with this auto? or do you think it just might need a service? thanks

It also depends on how you've "trained" it. My gearbox leaps at the chance to change back gears, but that's because I thrash the living hell out of it. If you drive it softly, it learns to make softer changes, but it takes a lot longer to notice a heavy throttle position. If you thrash it, the changes get harsher, but the time waiting to change back gets considerably shorter.
I'd get it serviced before you start thrashing it though. Nothing is worse then thrashing a damaged gearbox.
