Do you know if the memory line was wired in to the power properly? Cause the H/U needs constant 12v to preserve the settings, just like the CMOS in a computer.

I honestly can't say, as I've never put an Alpine deck in. Have you still got the wiring diagram that came with the H/U?

Sounds to me like you've only wired up the ignition power, which means a total loss of power when you turn the car off. Check your wiring, make sure you've plugged everything in properly and like suggested, find the install manual and make sure you've got everything wired up thats supposed to be and in the right spots.

I bet he has mixed up the 12V and the ignition wires ( usually Yellow and Red on Pioneer decks and I think they are the same on Alpine ).
The 12V wire gets a constant voltage from your battery and means that you keep your settings. It also is the one that the unit draws its power from.
The ignition wire turns the unit on when you turn your key to accessories or turn the car on. Mix them up and it will still work however you will loose everything....:D

:bowrofl: easy champ, arm yourself with a 12V light or multimeter so you can see for sure which one is which. :D
Do it right the first time, dashes have a habit or breaking if they keep getting taken out...

Yup you've definitely either not hooked up the permanent 12v wire, OR you've got the accessory and constant 12v wires mixed up.
Did you follow the wiring diagrams?
