so i havent touched my magna in a while, due to having crap-all money( but what's new?)
im looking to make new boards and panels for the interior of my 96' TE boot. any ideas on what materials and how much it's gonna cost me? MDF maybe? i need something to attach my amps and sub to, because they fly all around the boot when i drive angrily. i have one 12" sony sub/box, will it sound worse if i take it out?

easy solution to stop your amp and subs flying round.....
i got some double sided VELCRO..(2 sticky strips one is fluffy sided and the other has little barbs on it, you know what i mean)

stick the barbed velcro strap onto the underside of your amp and subs..... then smack them back down on your boot floor and the fluffy material on the floor holds it firm as the velcro grabs onto it holding them down and saving them slipping side to side....

when i put tools in the back you can just rip them up and pull them out... works a threat....

you can be as angry as you want when you do skids.. lol
but large brick walls and power poles sometimes rip them off...... depends how hard you hit them.....hmmmm dunno ill try it out in my lunch break lol

I also have to put a new floor in my wagon, however i'm going with marine ply (not a big fan of mdf or chipboard)

mdf would be the way to go
i used 16mm mdf for my amp panels and just covered them in carpet i got from my local audio shop
for the subs i would use 18mm minimum well thats if your building a box too ;)

marine ply is good stuff but isnt cheap
either plywood or particle board would be fine
as for chipboard i dont think anyone would wanna use it in a car as its very weak

i work under the philosophy "a cheap job isn't a good job, and a good job isn't cheap"

i'd recommend against marine ply.. for around 3 times the price of normal ply, it will give you NO benefit. most people think that marine ply is 'waterproof' and whatnot, but normal ply is waterproof to, marine is mostly more flexible :)

12mm mdf will be perfect for panelling. and cheap as chips too. just make sure you dont have any leaks in your boot and youll be right :)

it might be lol but atleast the rear is slightly lower ;)
actually my box doesnt weigh that much its pretty light
you do realise the thinner you go when building a sub box the more it'll flex?

oh were talking about using 12mm for a sub box? jesus no! i wouldnt recommend ANYONE use 12mm for a sub, not even a 6" driver. 16mm minimum, depending on specs. and most people seem to think that 20kg is a lot lighter than it really is.. a 100L slot ported box constructed from 18mm mdf with 2 average 12" subs in it is borderline 20-25kg

EDIT: just got a pair of kicker CV12's for around $350. i'll keep the origional box that came with the subs. i just make 1 part to get a the floor done for now, with a recess for by sub-box to slip into.

and another question. where the hell do you get durable boot carpet?
