Squealing brakes are due to one of two things:-
The brake material is all gone and you're have friction of the rake plate against the brake disk, or the position of the brake pad against the caliper piston isn't as snug as it could be.

Either way, the squealing is the caused by vibration between the pad, the caliper piston and the brake disk.

In some cases, simply changing brake pad manufacturer can often cure the problem as the different pads will have a slightly different harmonic frequency.

You should get them checked out.

Thanks GT, I replaced them about 2months ago rotors were fine, cleaned up the calipers. Even the little H shaped plate that sits above both pads.

You can find a product called "copaslip" its a grease that comes in a toothpaste like tube, and it goes on the BACK of the pads & caliper to stop them sticking. Most brake places use this. It will definitely stop the squealing !

Thanks again for the quick reply, Will keep a look-out this weekend. Hopefully that'll fix it.

If the pads are ok the instead of using that other product you can put a dob of silicon on the back of the pad between the pad and vibration plate (if it has one). I have done this in the past on old celicas and camrys with great sucess.

my brake has the exact same problem (high pitched squealing sound ), i went for a service last week and the mechanic said my rear brake pad is worn (needs replacing), then i asked him if that is causing the squealing noise, he said no and told me its probably the break disc thats causing this. anyway i will get my brake pads replaced (along with a few other things) hopefully next week and will see if it would fix the problem and what he said is true or not.
