Warning: Long read. Suggest only to read this if you are interested in my Ralliart progress.
Project 'Get the Ralliart on the road' is getting closer.
Quick history... The repair work was finished a while ago thanks to my friendly repairer.
Then the budget disappeared on bills, family outings, school uniforms, etc. and I simply ran out of $$$ to get it on the road. :(
But now the TS Wagon is throwing a hissy fit (Tune, CV Joint, Clutch, argh!). Think she's jealous lol
So it was either spend the dollars fixing up the Wagon or spend the dollars on the Ralliart.
Hmmm, tough choice - NOT!
So the plan was hatched...
1. Find some $$$ from somewhere. - Done (somehow)
2. Fingers crossed that the Wagon survives long enough to get the Ralliart on the road. - Still going
3. Book the RWC, VIV & Rego. - Done
4. RWC - Done
5. VIV
6. Rego
7. Smile & Drive
Sounds simple, lets see how it goes...

Step 1. Find the $$$
Still trying to work out how I'm doing this one.
Sort of forced into this with the Wagon's clutch getting worse.

Step 2. Crossed Fingers.
This is an ongoing step, Wagon's getting driven as little as possible. Working from home whenever I can.
Clutch is slipping and CV Joint's stuffed but she's soldiering on.

Step 3. Book the car in.
Booked the car in for a RWC - No problem.
Called up to book the VIV. You call them, leave your number and they call you back. Great idea except they didn't call me back.
Next day I called again, 1/2 a day later, I finally get a call back.
Ask to be booked in for Wednesday - told sorry but earliest will be Thursday (there's a mandatory 7 day lead time - seems silly to me). Guess there's a reason, somewhere?
I refrained from saying, if they'd called me back yesterday when I first called them, Wednesday would have been okay! But Thursday it is.
Okay, so RWC & VIV booked in. Assuming they both go okay, next step is Rego.
Called VicRoads on the 13... number, I'm on hold. Expected wait time = 15mins - argh!
I hang up and try to find a local number for my local VicRoads office.
Called my local VicRoads office, no luck, you have to call the 13... number.
Called VicRoads again, back on hold, expected wait time = 5mins.
Half way through booking the car in, the lady informs me that I'll have to pay for the booking over the phone, but I can't find my wallet.
Have to hang up & call them back later.
Called VicRoads again, back on hold, expected wait time = 15mins.
Finally get answered, half way through booking the car in, the lady asks for the car's VIN and Engine number’s.
VIN number is easy, I've given that to everyone except the postman these days.
But never been asked for the Engine No. argh! it's not on any of my paperwork. Do I really need this I ask, yes answers the lady.
I have to hang up again!
Go out to the car, look for the engine number, Can hardly see the engine block, never mind a number?
Come back inside and search AMC for Engine Number location.
Argh! WTF! I have to take the snorkel off?
A bit more AMC searching and someone suggests the Warranty Book. Yeah! it's listed in the front of the Warranty Book. That is assuming no engine change has been done.
Back out to the car and with a little bit of twisting and a torch, and yeah, there's the engine number. Same as in the Warranty Book.
Called VicRoads again, back on hold, expected wait time = 10mins.
10+ minutes later and the Car's booked in for the Rego.
By the way, this time I wasn't asked for the Engine No.
Anyway, main thing is the car's booked in.

Step 4. Road Worthy Inspection
Just about to take the car for the Road Worthy when I remember the car's hasn't got a spare tyre.
This may be a problem, I have some 15, 16 and 18" rims/tyres but the Ralliart has 17" rims/tyres.
Then I remembered the strange Vic rule of... No spare tyre = okay for RWC. :shifty:
Note to self: Pick up a spare 17" ASAP.
Anyway, the RWC was completed today. Car passed with no problems (as expected - this car's still a baby - only 52,000KMs).
I'm really happy. :D
That's it so far. VIV & Rego next week.
Hope these go okay. They should do.
Sounds like your having a lot of fun with the Ralliart.
Fingers crossed your wagon holds up long enough for you to get the Ralliart on the road!
Keep us updated :)

nice to hear are you selling the TS wagonNah, TS Wagon is staying in the family.
It's now the children's car - for them to share as they get their licences.
(this translated by my son = His car lol) Might have to get him to join up now.

*edit*
Okay I just found this old thread and hate leaving it unfinished but also don't want to bump it to the top, so I'll edit this last post instead of replying to it.
I didn't update steps 5, 6 & 7.
5. VIV
Done, went through without any major problems.
You're meant to have ALL receipts for parts used to fix the car.
I had all receipts except something for the front bar and one Para headlight as I had picked it up on ebay. Gave the VIV guy a reason to scare me but in the end she passed okay.
6. Rego
Done, also no problems thankfully (just a cry over the $$$).
7. Smile & Drive
Definitely not a problem with this one!
That's the past, here's the future... http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66529
