guy just rang from the mecanic booth bolts fell out and a few pins?? they recon when i put my car into Mitsu for a service and brake pad change that the guy didnt do it up properly and they eventually spun themselves out. Bloody hell. but in the end it still cost me $110 bucks for him to fix it but thank god it could have been alot worse.

Thats pretty poor, just be thankful you realised before you had to stop hard behind someone, because I get the feeling with basically just the rear brakes the front of your car would have been a different shape should you have been put in such a situation.

Well in this day and age I guess you can sue the Mitsubishi service center for that :P
Endangering lives or some crap lol

Geee, some shotty mechanics out there. After ford changed the brakes on my dads fairlane they didnt do up the nuts on the tyres enough, two nuts came loose and the front wheel nearly came off.

How long ago did the dealer service the car, and change the pads?
Why then didn't you tow the vehicle to Mitsu for them to fix?

Think thats bad,

Bob Jane in Eltham only hand tightened ALL 5 wheel nuts on 2 of the wheels on my mum's VT commodore. We were driving home and just as we got to our street this loud vibration starts coming from the passenger side of the car.

As we pull up into the driveway I get out to have a look and I could move the the wheel nuts freely. Lets just say they got an ear bashing from my dad, they replying with "I think you are talking crap" and they hung up. Now since they are only a 5 minute drive from our house, he went there and abused the guy some more, anyway towards the end the manager was a stubborn ****wit and refused to believe that the wheel nuts weren't tightened enough and was gonna call the cops because my dad was threatening to bash the **** out of him for endangering my mum's life.

I mean, Bob Jane.... seriously, thats all they do all day!! change tyres/wheels. Monkey's could do a better job.

Hmmm, tell me about it. That what happened to my dad, He knew there was something wrong when He felt the vibration in the wheel. And yeah, the nuts were just about off.

I think they should be done up by hand though, just tight. I've had 2 hub bolta threaded on 2 seperate occasions cause they used a gun to do em up extra tight. And cause it was threaded on the hub and not the bolt, you have to replace the whole hub.

Yeah I agree with that. Nothing worse trying to unbolt a rim that has been done too tight with an airgun.

They should just use torque wrenches. Nothing else

i always do mine up by hand, im not a big bloke but ive done them up tight anought that they wouldnt come off with the gun, you do them up, but some back into it, after 50k's of driving your supposed to retighten them, thats why you get issues.

dealership = apprentice

take the bill back there and tell them to pay up. they will have records of it being there for brake repairs

if your calipers were seperated from the disc and you continued to use them (ie push the brake pedal) would the piston pop out after a few pumps and then the fluid would dump out and you'd loose all brake pressure resulting in having NO brakes what so ever?

you sure both your calipers managed to fall off at the same time? sounds very unlucky if they did .. about as unlucky as two wheels falling off at the same time

Thats bloody poor, if you have the "Service list" of what Mitsubishi completed when you handed it in there, grab one of this mechanic and take it down there, demand a refund for what you had to pay.

This could of been alot worse: Eg you ran into another car and couldnt stop/you hit something.

Id make them pay for it.
