Some of you might remember that there was talk of this a few months ago...that a Kia Optima leather/chrome gear knob would fit 3rd gens. Has anyone actually done this mod yet?

I got a price from Blackburn Kia spare parts dept today...$150! This is for just the leather/chrome shifter knob. The price does not include the button on top or the securing nut but these shouldn't be required as some of the parts from the Mitsu knob could be used in the Kia one.
Just wondering if anyone has done this mod yet? Has anyone found a cheaper price? Would it be cheaper to just get the Mitsu knob reupholstered in leather?

up til the KJ, only the Xi's had leather shifters and steering wheel. i think the series II KJ that leather steering wheels and shifters were standard on all veradas.
I don't think the Ei version of the Verada ever had a leather gear knob or steering wheel as standard (going by the specs on the Redbook website). Also, if the Ralliart leather gear knob isn't all that good then i might as well get the gear knob retrimmed in good leather (by the same trimmers who did my leather interior). Might as well get the steering wheel and hand brake lever done at the same time no?

just checked out the piccies here (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showpost.php?p=660020&postcount=71) and noticed the leather wheel too lol
come to think of it that kia wheel looks awfully like the magna/verada leather wheel
If that is real leather it's pretty bad quality. It does not look, feel or smell like leather. My dad has owned 3 cars with leather steering wheels and gear knobs and the ones in my Verada do not feel anything like the ones in my dad's cars. Either it's not leather or it's the worst leather i've seen in my life. Either way it's gonna get retrimmed in good quality leather eventually.

No, the seats are a lighter colour than the steering wheel, the steering wheel being the same colour as the top half of the dash.
