Hey,
I am new to this forum. I just bought my Brown/Golden TP a months ago, and ablsolutely LOVE it!!!!
Just want to hear your opinion about this: whether to get slotted rotor or braided hose to get better braking performance?
I will post some picture later
thanks guys

I think you mean slotted Brake rotorS
I think do a full flush, get some lucas or bendix pads and get some slotteds up front and she'll stop pretty good

New pads and flush your brake system out, new fluids... if you have enough money, rebuild your calipers... don't worry about slotted rotors, for a first gen that's way too much overkill.

when i bought my magna i put new brake rotors/pads/fluids and bearings in my tp.
Now if i was to do it again id go the twin pistons calipars. mind you that would be a little pain to do.Hardest part would be to get someone to make new lines.
If i was in your shoes id go for slotted rotors (cos there not much more than new stock ones) good set of pads like bendix and drain all the old fuild for 5.1 dot super that is compatible with all dot ratings or if you really wanted buy some of the expensive blue stuff that they have in track cars. Well thats my opinion:D
And whats all this don't bother it's a first gen. this new member like's his car like most of us that drive first gens.
dang why not call it 2nd\3rdgen aussie magna.
sorry for the windge admin but im tired of hearing those things when i like the car i drive even though it's a first gen. And a new member dosen't want to hear that when he was asking advice not what he should drive(or not bother enjoying cos it's a first gen:nuts: ).
I have seen alot of new members put off aussie magna cos of those kind of comments from members .
Anyway back on topic . keep us updated on how you go dude and any problems you have just ask and im sure you'll get the info you need.
Also if you have baisc tools like a jack/socket set\ring spanner set\axle stand or ramps you could do this work all youself and save on labour costs. which means more money for your magna.
And if you get stuck im sure thatwe can walk you through it:D
cheers smooth

how long have you owned a first gen?. cos my brakes/pads etc are almost new and start to fade a bit after a few decent stops. So i think your comment is wrong cos there's allways room for improvement and added safety.
for eg. i don't like 3rd gens a whole lot but don't tell everyone that owns one to not worry seeing as it's just a 3rd gen. thats like saying to somone who has a 4 cly 3rd gen don't bother cos thats overkill (being that you won't go fast enough to need them, well that how the person would feel, like being talked down to about there car, some ppl take comments like that personally cos they love there car). If you hadn't noticed:D no matter what it is.

slotted rotors (smooth )are ok to fit
so are braided brake hoses
the std rotors and calipers wear well and are good
no brake problems reported on the first gen TP

slotted calipers are ok to fit
Never heard of them plz enlighten me:D :bowrofl: :D
I'll be going slotted rotors after I've done my next few engine mods, and prolly bendix pads.

TP's tend to pull up verry well with little fade when giving them a work out no complaints here

I got quoted from Repco that DBA do cross drilled and slotted for $127 each for the TP
and just slotted were cheaper
I had slotted rotors in my TP wagon, and TN manual sedan. Fitted with good tyres, and good pads and fluid, it'll stop like a brick wall. Cheapy tyres will hurt the stopping point, as they lose too much grip.
Though, the second gen 4cyls can hardly talk, they've got less braking than us firsts, for a heavier car.

I recommend Slotted Rotors on the front.
I instaled them on my GT after glazing stock discs
The slots help dissipate the heat out of the discs so you
don’t glaze them after continuous hard use.
Spending $30,000+ on my first gen is overkill, not 30 bucks extra on discs.
