salutations. I have the opportunity to dredge out my 2.6 TS 4cyl and put in a 3 litre V6 with low Ks, both auto. This will be a complete power plant swap, box and all I have done a couple of searches for info/guidance on the subject and I imagine that it is not an uncommon swap. both motors are the same year model, 1995 and the V6 has less Ks. I need some pointers like do I have to change the computer, is there a bcm to consider and if anybody knows of a thread which deals with this subject, I would be happy to find out where it is. the only thing I see as something to ponder is that the v6 is out of a 1995 Verada.same car?
let me know.

You realise it is a difficult swap... You have to change one of the side engine mounts, swap ECU, gearbox, driveline and a whole lot of other niggling crap.

Sell your car and buy a magna with a V6 already in it like a KS or something, it's just not worth the money.

To answer your question regarding the V6 second gen motor (6G72?) the Verada and the Magna share the same engine. AFAIK this is in fact a rare swap as nobody could be bothered spending more money than a decent second hand V6 magna is worth to make their 4 cylinder magna into a 6.

I predict this will go as far as the countless "I'm turbocharging my magna uleh" threads we have.

Yep, These cars are so cheap now it might be best to find another car with the configuration you want rather than trying to build one. Unless that's what you really want to do of course, in which case more power to you.

If you get yourself a v6 with a manual box you won't be able to stop yourself from grinning from ear to ear while you drive it.

Are you for real man? All that work on a 4cyl magna? Just buy a TS v6 manual (or auto if you that's what you want) there's no point doing an engine swap on a 4cyl magna. The cost of the swap would cost more than buying a nicer model.
My mate bought a TS SE with power windows, v6, very nice condition, cd player and 6 months rego for $1000.
Grab something with power windows at least.

Sell your car for $500 add another $500 on top and you'll be driving a nicer car.

just to clear up an missconception. I am almost 65 years of age and on a pension. for me auto is good. I can do the job myself at no cost to me as I have both cars. the v6 is a wreck but the relevant parts are undamaged. The V6 mounts are there. the car was damaged on the opposite side to the exhaust so that is undamaged. Fuel pump is ok. I apreciate all your comments and advice but really need some clues so as to avoid any problems with the swap. being on a fixed income, I cannot afford to buy another car.

how it is done
TS 6 cyl and Auto will fit

the front wirng looms need to change without cutting them
so all in one piece through the firewall
the dash has to be pulled put on both cars

from there remove the TS 4 with auto and drive shafts

rewire the v6 engine from dash to engine bay
with its right harnes and controllers of the donor car
refit TS with V6 engine and auto then use the 6 cyl cv joints out to the brakes

then exhaust fitted for the V6
radiator

brakes should stay the same splines if not the rotors will need to change

then you need to get a machinery inspection on your 6 cyl to comply for your states modification rules and rego

It sounds like this indeed is a case where a conversion will make sense and has ever chance of being successful. I really look forward to seeing you accomplish this!

Unsure about other states, but here in VIC, you don't need an engineers cert to drive a converted car IF the converted engine was an option on the vehicle at the time of new sale.

For example, you can fit a 6G72 engine to a TS 4G54 without needing an engineers cert, however, if you wish to (say it was possible for hypothetical sake) transplant a 6G74 into a TS, only then would it need to be checked by an engineer.

So if it's the same in NSW as it is here in VIC, there should be no problems.

My mistake, the usual clowns we get around here have big dreams of things along these lines, I'm actually glad to see someone attempt it, as I, deep down, want to do this conversion too... Go for it mate.

That's a brilliant short writeup there buffy!
