no this thread doesnt telling u how to make a bomb.....:bowrofl:
Last night i had to remove my battery (including terminals) so i could put a bolt in the battery cradle......it was loose and i got stung for it when i went for my RWC....
it went back together fine...... jumped in my car started it up.... re-programmed my H/U
the trip comuter reset which i expected and i thought it was all OK..
UNTIL i had to go down the street for dinner when i noticed the gears were slipping whilst the auto was shifting through them....
almost like drivng along in a manual and punching in the clutch with ya foot still on the gas....
REVS OUT and catches onto 2nd and then boosts when it kicks in......
its really anoing, makes my car feel like a paddock Bomb and im not sure if its healthy for the trans to be in this state.........
obviously some thing to do with my driving memory has been reset.....
WHAT HAPPEND?
AND how do i get it fixed
help would be much appreciated

Did you let the car idle for 10-15 minutes when you put the battery back in?

Fixing air intake? You didn't remove the sensor plug did you? check that it's still plugged in.
It has to have something to do with what you did, so retrace your steps and check over everything.
*EDIT*
If you don't let it idle, the ECU doesn't get a chance to learn how to idle properly, which can stuff up your shift points and make the auto feel very strange.

I don't believe that.
Disconnect and reconnect your battery and turn on your car and leave for 15-20 minutes in P.
I'm not too sure if your car has this, but make sure when the display above the airvent is flashing 5 (which means S for sedan), hold down mode until it displays 3.5 (for engine size), hold mode again till it beeps.
I know its a pain in the ass but that the magna/verada ECU for ya!

ah yes... well time.. i didnt really keep a time on how long i left it on for cause i didnt know u have to leave it idol....but i know it was roughly 5 to 10 mins....just so my battery didnt go flat seeing i had to use my headlights to for light......im not familliar with electrics in newer cars.....used to older cars....
and yes i have seen that 5 symbol....and thought nothing of it.. i thought it was a glitch... and after time i thought my computer had a mailfunction so i just held in mode and it bleeped to symbol 35 then i pressed it again and it just goes to the default SET SPEED display.....NOW I know what it is......
so u reckon disconect the battery and try again...
if i had of know there would have been side effects i would have asked some 1 first but Who would think there would be... .obviously not me...

yep, your ECU is now confuzled.
Start again, make sure everything is off aswell like your headlights, stereo and aircon/fans.
Then after setting it correctly let it idle for 15-20 minutes.
Your car will run perfect after that.

You are probably just experiencing the phase where the TCU learns your driving style.
Specifically explain exactly what the car does after a drive.

Um, try doing as said before, after it has idled for 15 mins, cycle thru gears from Park to 1 then back up to Park about 5 times, leaving 5-10 seconds between each gear change, takes about 10 mins to perform.
May help, this stops the car "reaching" for gears alot of the time.
EDIT: Also, Will is correct, forgot to mention, drive it like a granny for a while aswell.

AHHHHHH i did the right thing and rang mitsubishi......
they were a great help directed me through the correct steps to fixing or tuning my ECU or TC whach-ya-ma-call it....to stock or more power
1- disconect the termials from your battery... for 2 mins
2-reconnect it...
3-start the car..and allow it to idol freely for 5 to 10 mins
4-do a SLOW! gradual take off, let it run through the gears at a smooth slow pace
5- stop the car and turn it off
6-start it again and repeat the slow take off and gradual drive through the gears then stop and turn it off-------repeat this 4 TIMES!
7-then do a few stop starts
8-and to finish do a few stop and fast starts
this will revert your car to stock power.....
you can re-programme your car for quick takeoffs and more top end......by doing the complete opposite steps.....causing you massive petrol consumption
fast take offs,
thanks for your help guys
if this doesnt work..... and i did fry my ECU or TCdadada.... there will be a 1999 TH magna free to good home tomorow.... LOL

thats a part of the process for reprogramming the trans ecu, has nothing to do with engine power at all..
best ting to do when resettig the battery is to just take an nice relaxing drive for a matter of minutes and the car will return to normal
my car has has the battery disconnected for weeks at a time and it dosent even stall now when its re connected and started... but i believe thats cos if the pb comp..

You can rig up a laptop to display all the readings your ecu gets, but you can't change anything unless you have a programmable ecu installed, and the software to change it.
