Engine swap done …. All legit…………. V6 auto ….. to ……V6 man………. Took a weekend and $100 in coolant and oil, and the odd part…… next to no other costs …. Engine started first go (well after cranking over for a min)….. used the auto wiring loom on the manual engine, only needed to wire up a reverse light and bridge some terminals in a plug…..as for the clutch …. It was pretty straight forward… had to cut a hole in the firewall tho…….any questions on this kind of swap?? … don’t hesitate to ask

hey perry nope i haven't done the dohc conversion yet the engine is sitting at the workshop with all the wiring and ecu i got off aj (gotrice) and i'm doing the extractors now. The dohc will be in within the next month though. Paula has put his dohc on hold too his just waiting on some bits.
The extractors set me back $1300 for nice mandrel bent ones. Don't think i have enough time or cash for the manual conversion yet! But would really like to know how much it cost all up so I can set aside some money for the conversion while the new engine is being transplanted

good work mate. i'll have a few questions later as im about a couple of weeks away from doing this conversion on my ks wagon. Did you have a donor car or just parts. How does it compare to the normal auto...
Post up some pics if thats cool.
Good work mate

Hey guys thanks for the comments!
I should get some pics up but not sure when … actually how do you put them up?
I was lucky enough to have a donor car.. manual wagon.. which made things very easy… I just used the clutch, engine, gear box, and the drive shafts from the wagon…. The whole thing only cost me bout $150 (minus the donor car) including a huge tarp as I was working in the rain.
Oh yeah I bought a new dizzy and rotor as well which set me back about $120 but that’s just because the old ones were somewhat corroded (well past just sanding the terminals)
Car drives very well, …. Its sooooo much better than the old auto… now the car dose what I tell it to do… the old engine was gutless and the auto box was worn and sapped the power up……(when I tested the auto against my m8’s VN ,, he could easily beet me by as least 2 car lengths up 2 80KMh.) it seems pretty quick now… really pulls you back in the seat … its faster than my m8’s old VN wagon (from a rolling start tho, the commodore would always get the jump on me due to fwd traction problems lol)..
so there is a huge improvement. The engine that is in it now seems to be strong for a stock engine, must have been one of those lucky ones…..
oh yeah for the guys thinking bout doing this… let us know if you have any questions or need advice… im happy 2 help out

It would be cheaper to do while the engine is out of the car I would imagine?

I got a manual Verada wagon and a TS wagon v6 manual so has my son and also enough parts to do a manual conversion on a auto v6!

Does that make a Tri-Magna household?
Reminds me of a guy that lives close to me - there's always at least 4 2nd gen Camrys outside his house. I guess It makes sense. If you find something you like you stick with it.
