Hello All,
I am looking for a reasonable set of splits and an amp, my budget is $500 max. I listen to alot of RnB, and I'm really looking for a bit more bass but mostly to amplify and hear the higher frequencies.
I was thinking Response Splits and Response AMP? Any feedback on these?
Any recommendations?
Thanks

if you want sound quality and not something that will distort or blow up after a couple of months you cant really go past the alpine ddlinear yea you might pay a bit more but sound quality is amazing i have a set of these in my car, truely something worth the price.

with the amp i wouldn't go for anything to flash the alpine ddlinear's i'm running @ the moment of my indash alpine dvd player with like i said befor amazing sound so maybe something like a kenwood amp 350watt 2 channel $99

What kind of power can they produce roughly, does it distort when up loud and how are the high frequencies e.g. vocals

well those particular splits only want 40W RMS, why a) use a cheap lousy kenwood amp, or b) pump so much power at them (even tho that 350W would no doubt be max power).
well the reponse 2x80W RMS amp i think is a good one, if its just to power the splits, and is around $160, so thats $340 to spend on some nice splits...
for that price range, you have eclipse, focal (if can get a good price), morel, boston acoustics, etc etc
(note the above brands and with the wattage supplied will kill that alpine/kenwood combo any day ;) )

Are magna's 6.5 or 6?
Boston has apparently been recommend the best, what is good in this range I heard the S60's?

well each to their own, i've worked in car audio for a few years now and whilst installing many different speakers for the price (brand new) in my opinion the ddlinear is a very well balanced speaker. i know mid/high to top range Focal and bostion have unbeatble sound especially the focals but yea it all boils down to what you want.

most usually go the 6.5"
and best to go out and hear the brands, see what deals you can get. as i said, some of them may be a lil above budget ($400 or so), but u could squeeze a few $$s out of them :) shop around, try places like FHRX etc. also have a look at the forums at www.mobileelectronics.com.au and check out the for sale section, might get a higher up model for your money :)

So an aim of $2000 isnt bad for a sound system consisting of Front Splits, AMP's, Sub, Head Unit, and Wiring Kits

Hey... i got pioneer Bullit 6.5 splits and they dont do too bad... without the expense. About $260 12 months ago. Should get better than that though.
Not great wit the bass but thats what a sub is for. Clear highs and midrange.

Can anybody recommend a Fused Dist Block solution for under $60? I'm looking at stingers. But would it make any difference to the standard jaycar ones?
Basically need to run two amps of 1 x 4GA cable coming from the battery which currently has 100A inline fuse. Would it be better just to run down another 4GA cable?\
Also can I use the same earthing point as my other AMP?

Aerpro make some decent cheap, fused distro blocks. Strathfield have them... Can't remember what price though.
What is the wattage and amp draw of the amps? I have approx 900W worth in the back running off a single 4ga cable split into 2x8ga cables. Dims like a mother****er though :P

currently I have a 2X150WRMS
So there will be 2 x (2 x 150WRMS) so roughly 600WRMS of a 4GA cable

Yes but will you be running one of them bridged? The old Jaycar 2x 150WRMS can pull a maximum 56A to make 436WRMS of noise, I'm not sure about the new ones though ( now 500WRMS ). My Audison SRx2s only pulls 35A to make 600WRMS of noise so they will all differ.

For $300 I know FHRX has a pair of Hertz HSK-165's. I had the older Boston FS-60's ( replaced with the S60's ) and they sounded really good for the money. For an extra $200 you can get the SL-60's ( what I currently have ) and they are simply awesome for the money....

Mr İharisma

You will only need a 50WRMSx 2 amp. I ran them off a Audison SRx2 ( 65WRMSx 2 ) and the amp still had some grunt left which I found out when I got the SL-60's.
It will all depend on if you would like a 3channel set up to run a sub as well or 2 amps to run your set up to which one you get.

Is that what you have? SQ would be must better compared to the Jaycar in the Audison correct?

Yeah check it out at www.audison.com . I notice a huge amount of improvement in my sub between the 2x 150WRMS Jaycar and the Bigger SRx2s. Front speaker wise, my mate is running my old FS-60's off a Jaycar amp and they still sound good, I would prefer the Audison though. It will all depend on budget though.
Attached is how my SRx2 ended up when we mounted it under the front seat. Another great FHRX install!:bowrofl:
