Who has them in a 2nd gen?
i was thinking of getting them for the OEM sway bar, control arm and steering rack
Just browsing stuff today at work (bored) and saw these...
What are the benifits? what are the downsides?
Have seen this mentioned before but im not 100% on what benefits/dowfalls i'll see from using these bushes
if anyone can shed some light on what they can do for my 2nd gen (V6) I'd love to hear you

these bushes are designed to reduce play/movement in the part to which they are fitted. they make steering more precise, allow less play in control arms, and reduce noises in your suspension caused by said free play. If you are fitting anti-sway bar and control arm bushes you will be impressed by the improvement.

ok well tuffy i don't have a 2nd gen but i have replaced all my suspenion bushes with poly bushes through super pro (aussie company / fulcrum suspenion is a supplyer for them and are aussie wide).
Now the difference is Amazing. What onece felt like a boat was turned into a go-cart just from doing the bushes.
Now madmagna had voiced in the past that he's not a fan and have seen heaps fail on the track. Now i got the point he was making but we don't put our cars under that stress that you see at a track for day to day driving.
The main concern of his was that with poly bushes need to be greased thus atracting dirt and road grim and if not cared for will dry out and fail cos of all the dirt.
but if u clean and regrease them every 6 months u will not have a drama.
mine started to squeak 12 months after putting them in, but as soon as i heard it i pulled them out (control arm bushes cos there not static like the swaybar bushes) cleaned and regreased and they were fine after that but now i do them every 6 months to be sure i'll have no drama's.
These guys will have an online cataloge for super pro bushes for every bush in your car. There's will be pictures and it should tell you how many of the kits you need per car.

So im guessing the pros are, as you said it will make it handle superior to standard bushes, but the downsides being, you actually have to take them out and regrease them every 6 months.
You cant simple wipe off the dirt and grime can you? or do they have to be fully removed?

pro's are u will feel the road better giving better reaction times, better handling/more stiff. but the cons are that the ride will be a bit more harsh/stiff and they need to be cared for like a clean and regrease.
as for taking them off well that depends on the bush. with my control arms the bush towards the front dosen't need to be taken out because you can get all the friction surfaces with it just undone and pushed down a little. But the rear control arm bush needs to be slipped off to be regreased.
You should really only need to grease the ones that have movment like the d-sway bar bushes and control arm bushes. the sway bar link bushes can do with a wipe cos they don't move alot, but i do them while im there anyway.
And whats an arvo of cleaning and regreasing anyway just a bit of labour.
Just make sure there cleaned really good with like some grease and wax remover then go over the metal parts with some emory (sp?)tape and then re-grease with the proper stuff. The guys for fulcrum gives me free grease for them cos they allways have tons of those little packets grease left over when they fit poly bushes.
so in summary u gain in handling and feel but lose in the comfort factor and they need to be cleaned down the track but if you work on you car then it's not that hard to do.

Thanks mate
Ive been saving a bit of $ lately for the DOHC conversion but i might splurge on a rear sway bar and some poly bushes.
I'll talk to my mechanic about if he can clean em all up for me once or twice a year..
im really over tinkering with the motor side of cars
Thanks for the advice:)
may i ask what bushes you have?
